I wouldn't think twice about hauling a 27 across the country in a new suburban as long as it was on the right trailer...

My mechanic just bought a 2010 suburban with 120,000 on it for 4,000. The carpet was toaste and so was the tranny. Idk if it had the tow package but I know they guy towed with it and it killed rhea tranny. The 4l63 that is in the 1/2" ton is not that strong of a tranny for pulling loads around. I'm sure if you don't keep it for ever and do the required maintenance it will last for what you need.

You will be fine. Don't tax the engine or the trans. Make sure you have the extra trans cooler and that you have proper working brakes on your boat trailer and spare hub/bearings and tires I reality that 27 fountain is a 23 to 24 foot boat. Its like towing a 22 donzi

Just remember that the towing capacity specs for all vehicles are done with an EMPTY truck, NO cargo, NO passengers.

Once you totally outfit your towing setup with all the other crap...
...and then load it down with your spouse, 2.5 kids, dog, luggage, coolers, and all the other schtuff we travel with, you are no over your GVWR when you are at your max towing capacity.

You want to be at about 2/3rds of your capacity rating with "truck left in reserve" in case of emergency.

I have found a nice one but am hesitant to pull the trigger if I need a bigger motor for traveling the West. Thanks in advance for your opinions
if it has the Z82 towing package it will tow it like nothing!
I have a 2015 tahoe LT with the Z82 towing package, I tow my 88 formula 272 SR1 with twin motors(which weighs alot more than your boat) on a tripple axle steel trailer and It tows it fine 130 miles. I keep it under 70.
