Just wondering why there are no drive showers on the 2007 and up 35 fountain lightnings with ssm xr drives? Maybe there is a reason but can someone enlighten me on this please.

I agree. However. I have seen race boats have no problem with the drives running for a lot of laps without them.
If you have huge power really working the drive really hard at WOT all day. That would be the best time for them.
My advice. Put them on..
However. Drive your boat as hard as you want. .Then stop and go put your hand on the drive. See if it is even hot at all, Or install the temp guage in the upper drain hole of the drive. That is the part of the drive they are designed to cool

Watch a video of any high X dimension, staggered Bravo outdrive set-up. Once on plane the drive shower pick-up is not getting the water going thru it. I have always put them on my boats and our current 07 38 Lightning full staggered is no exception, but I question how much water they actually flow once on plane. Seems the internal outdrive cooling mod would be a better way to go vs a bolt on Simrek or shower cap.
