Default Water in Compartment Under Cabin Step

Have a 1993 35 Lighting. Noticed after a heavy rain, cockpit cover was on, that I had 1/4 inch of watering standing in the compartment under the cabin step. Dried it all up and made sure i didnt have a hull issue, since i just recently purchased the boat. I floated it in my slip all weekend and compartment stayed dry.

No other signs of water intrusion anywhere in the cabin area. Just wondering if anyone else has see this and what they might have discovered.

I'm storing it this week with the full mooring cover and see if I get a repeat of the same issue.

Thanks

Do a search - assuming you can with this new vbulletin setup. Been talked about many times.

Everything from windshield fasteners to bow light to bow rails to anchor locker (wear holes) to water running forward from bilge.

Anything on the deck that can leak, has probably leaked on someones Fountain.

This will get you started...

There are two kinds of Fountains. Those that have water under the cabin step now and those that will have water under the cabin step in the future. It's a pretty regular occurrence. The things you want to look for that could mean a real problem are:

- wet carpet
- wet sidewalls in the cabin
- water stains or water dripping on / from the headliner
- wet upholstery

Basically anything that suggests that water is intruding where it shouldn't be. Apart from that, you could get some from the things that All_IN! mentioned. I always have a little under the step no matter what and I have a full bow cover that keeps the water out of those areas.

My 32 will get water if it is not stored high in the bow seems to collect there and in the bunk compartments also. Rain runs through the cover in the cockpit runs into the engine compartment and runs forward.
Rich.

My understanding is every Fountain left the factory with a free bag of ice thrown in. The worker didn't understand it should have been put in the fridge or cooler so he left it on the cabin floor. He took the words " throw in" seriously.

the first 2 things to check , (1) bow light and even more important as it is recessed in the deck is the bow cleat , Remove the two screws and unscrew it (has a long stainless threaded rod under) this is attached to the bow eye, I have owned 5 35s and 4 of then had no 5200 under them and they act like a bow drain into the forward compartment , When parked on the trailer the water sheds down the bow to the pocket under and in it goes ...
