42 executioner prop slip
#21
Update, Went out this past weekend with 5 people and 100 gallons fuel and really struggled to get boat on plane with 4 speed props. Really bad like 1 mile at 3k rpms trying to keep props from blowing out and when we got boat on plane only would run 76mph at 4950rpm. Conditions where not as good as last weekend but not that bad either. 70 degrees and calm water. How can I loose 8 mph in calm water with extra 400lbs on boat. I then ran fuel down and lost passenger so 4 adults and still 76 flashed 77mph once at about 5k rpm and planing was still really bad. I know may need to space drives down little but boat does plane pretty good with bravo props but why am I loosing so much speed in calm water. Think I could have hook in bottom? Hows the best way to check for hook and what is acceptable?
When you want to know how to set the boat up call me....LOL

I run a 2005 42 Ex with staggered 525s and Bravo XRs. I run the rear tanks empty. The boat runs very flat. I use 5 blade Maximus 28P routinely, and labbed 30's for poker runs for years now. I currently get 77-78 on the 28s and 80-81 on the labbed 30s. I also have labbed 32P 4 blade Bravos that get me to 83-84. The boat has been this way since I bought it in 2006. It has about 350 hours now and the speeds have dropped about 1-2 mph but still runs perfect. The 5 blades make a HUGE difference in the handling of this boat around the docks.

Is there a big difference in planing with Maximus versus bravos?

Yes, huge. When new we had some beefy dudes in the back seat on a poker run and could not get on plane no matter what with the 32 Bravos. Very embarrassing. Never this problem with the 28 Maximus. But, not as fast...
