35 Lighting - props

I know this has been discussed a lot but I'm looking for help on props in or out. I'm picking up a 05 35 w/ 525's next week. Owner said the boat is faster and handled better spinning out. Stock bravo 32's best of 93mph and spinning in was 91mph. Fountain test sheet even had them out! Everything I have read on this hull says in is faster and out handles better around the docks. On our water test it was hard for me to tell since it was my first ride. It seemed to take a while to get from low 80's into the upper 80's but we did have 4 adults and 3/4 fuel w/ air & water temps on the 80's. I've heard these boats do take time to get to top speed.

I'm not questioning the owner's knowledge since he has tested both ways. I'm just surprised based on everything I've read....

I'm surprised too - never heard that. I also don't remember any of my Performance Reports indicating which direction the props were spinning. But I'll double check.

I don't see any mention of prop rotation - does your report look different??

Here is my 09 42 (700's) report.

My bad, owner stated boat came from factory spinning out. I'm going to try them spinning in and see what happens. What's the easiest way to reverse the shift cables? At helm or in engine bay and specifically, how is it done?

So you say the factory test shows 93 turning out and 91 turning in?

You might want to have your seller show you the 93 before you drop the cash.

Post your Performance Report. I'm interested in seeing the reference to in/out.

Could be my old eyes, but I don't see any reference to prop direction on your Performance Report. I certainly don't know it all, but my understanding is Fountain set up their boats to spin in (to win!).

Right above stbd engine info it says "outboard rotation"

Wow that is wild, there are other twin step side by side owners here. Have any tried this?

The performance sheet for my fountain is a scribbled mess - my props spin in.https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3f531a3f20.jpg

See... it is my old eyes. LOL

I've never seen that documented on a Performance Report. Wonder if they were playing with drive heights on that particular hull, and determined that 'out' was the faster setup on that boat. Such that they documented it.

Not sure. Mine doesn't mention it either. I know at 19X mine 16 3/8 so I need some -3s. Lol

Still, I would call to confirm "Outboard Rotation" meant props turning out, since this is kind of a weird place to put this info instead of on the same line as the prop size...

My friends 575 35 has them spinning out from Fountain.

I have the same Fountain and my test sheet shows pretty much the same a yours, 91 mph @ 5400 rpm. IMHO I would just keep the props spinning out the way Fountain set it up. The fastest I‘ve run in fresh water is 88 mph with half tank of fuel and 4 adults. Might have nursed more speed but it was fast enough for me. I cruise around 50 mph @ 3500 rpm. It’s very easy to get on plane, has impressive acceleration and handles the Great Lake water quite well, though I do my best to avoid 6 footers (my wife is not impressed when the bow stuffs and water comes over the windscreen lol.). I’ve owned mine for 4 years and still love it. Good luck with your purchase.

Actually the bow stuff happened in my old Baja. The fountain hull does a great job at keeping bow on top and water splash to the sides. All this to say the Fountain handles well in big water.
