We are not speed freaks just like to cruise and don,t want any hassles, also what,s the deal with resale it seems to me that the prices are down? should I go new or just buy used?>
I live in NJ and would be willing to travel for a deal any thoughts?

My totally biased opinion is to go for a 29 Fever with HP500. If you can find a few-year-old fresh water one, you can get a really good deal. Mine runs great, handles well and is comfortable in even choppy conditions on the bay. If cabin space is really important, I'd look at the Donzis. They do have more space. So far, I've found the HP500 to be reliable - you just have to keep an eye on the oil. (It has some consumption.)

Before I bought my 27 I asked lots of questions. Here is a link to the thread I stsrted.

Use the search function and you will find other threads that are about the 27 including pics of mine.

I bought a 1998 27 fever with the 502mpi in it and it runs great. I also like how it handles the water. I would recommend it. I might be interested in selling it also? I love the boat and would like to find me a 32 fever or a 35 fountain. If you have anymore questions you can email me at [email protected].

We bought our 27 this in July, it was a '97 with 150 hrs. It was a great deal and we love the boat. The cockpit fit and finish are superior to most boats you will look at. If you need cabin space it's not the best choice, we rarely use the cabin so it doesn't matter to me.
The 496 has a closed cooling system which would be a nice feature. In cold climates you can boat longer and only drain the exhaust. If your not too concerned with speed it would be a good choice. I would suggest at least the HO 425hp version as a minimum. If you find a used 502 mag it's a great base engine which can be beefed up easily. Good luck
