Default 42 drive height's with bravo's

I am looking for little help on setup 2006 42 ex with standard bottom bravo XR's. Right now my prop shaft heights are at 4" below bottom measuring straight in front of drives to hull. I am getting high slip numbers and difficult to plane with certain props. My boat was built with different power and -2" shorty sport masters and 6 blade Herings from factory but previous owner put standard bottom and length bravos on. I have read that standard bottom bravos like to run little deeper for trim leverage on heavy boats. My thought is to try 1" spacers but was wondering what other guys are running for drive heights on 42 ex?

In reality here what you need to do is find your "X" dimension, where it was when it left the factory, and the move forward from there.

I put 2" spacers on BZs 2006 42 EX 525 XR setup and actually gained MPH and it doesn't take 5 miles to get on plane anymore

Spacers are ordered and will be testing this weekend. Obnoxus did you try 1" spacers? I talked with BZ and he was not sure of prop shaft height with 2" spacers but said it works good now. I am going start with 1" and have 2" as backup. A friend of mine just bought a 42 that is 1" deeper in water prop shafts and his numbers are pretty good with slip and mph with bravo props.

Well 1” spacer really helped. Boat gets on plain a lot better and gained 5mph cruse speed at 3500 rpm was 50mph now 55mph and about 4 mph on big end. Ran 91 mph at 5200rpm with merc racing labed 33 bravo 4 blades. They where 34s true 15.25 diameter with less pitch. Had 200 gallons fuel and 2 adults so may be able to pull couple mph out of boat it light.

NO,,,, we found 2" used first and it made a huge difference so we left it alone.

I have a set of 1" sitting here now that I will swap out sooner or later to see what happens.

You have a few MPH on us so that makes me want to drop to the 1 " even more now
