Yeah, the standard Fountain line up is three boats you've mentioned. They have moved with demand and the sports high performance demand is now too small for them to justify production. However....... I'm sure they have the molds for their go fast lineup and could build whatever you want but you'd need to be pretty keen and ready to plonk down a decent deposit because it would end up a custom build I suspect. I think Big Thunder still have the 38' demo/new boat available at 299k and there's also an unfinished 42' somewhere waiting for a buyer. Try Big Thunder first, or maybe the factory. Good luck, RR . |
They are building sportboats on custom order only. Rumor has a big power 47 and 42 have been ordered. They are gonna be updating them some also |

Good luck, RR Well they have the 42 and 47 molds. I was told by people who work there that some employees were instructed to destroy a bunch of old Baja hull molds, instead they destroyed by mistake.... the 38 Fountain, 35 Fountain, 38 ZR, 38 ZRC, and 35 ZR molds. |

I had my Donzi rigged by Fountain guys in NC who were laid off from the factory when the bottom fell out, and hired back when things recently picked up. I send it back to NC most off seasons for tweaking and they have kept me informed about the goings on inside the factory, including the mold crushing fiasco. Iconic hired an outside guy with a Center Console background to be in charge of production, so it's no wonder he wouldn't know the difference between a 38 Outlaw and a 38 ZRC, or care, nor would some of the new people they hired to build the CCs. According to my guys they did crush most of the Fountain and Donzi ZR sport boat molds by mistake. Yea it's sick but sadly true.
I do not think it matters because as others have pointed out there is no market for sport boats anymore - especially with them being priced 30 -40% higher than when they were mass-producing them back in the day. They made one 38 Lightning a few years back before they destroyed the molds and as far as I know it is still for sale at Big Thunder marine for almost $400K - for a low 90mph XR boat. Good luck with that. |
The destroyed molds that were confirmed by Reggie III on his Facebook are the 38 Lightning and the hatch mold for the ZRCs. Nothing else was mentioned by him, that would really be a loss if all the molds mentioned above were destroyed.

So would this mean that my piece of Fountain perfection just went up in value?

Wow what kind of morons did they have manning that operation. |

If anyone is wondering what goes on at Iconic Marine, my guess is there's a few people sitting in the outer office drinking booze instead of overseeing operations. Oh dear me..... RR . |
Perhaps with the onset of the great storm and the surge up the Pamlico they will have an insurance claim that will offset their stupidity.
Hey, you can insure stupid. That's a fact. |
Fountain and Iconic could be history come Monday morning. I hope anyone that has anything to do with that facility is far from there and on high ground, this hurricane may be biblical.
|
Fountain already posted that another boat company with higher ground has allowed them to move boats to their facility. |

Here is what my area rep told me
Hey Lee, Thanks for getting back with me. At this time, under our “Performance” series, we only have our “Cat-Hulls” available. We will have (3) Lightning’s coming, but we are looking at the end of 2019, early 2020 before releasing the “Reggie-performance” series. Wish I had better news, but we will be addressing this topic during our Dealer conference on Sept 15/16! I will be happy to keep you informed on the progress, but ask for you to remind me in the middle of September in case I forget. We appreciate you allowing us to work with you. Thank you, Darren Landry [QUOTE]Hi Darren, My original question to Tara was whether or not a staggered 35 or 38 Lightning could be special ordered? I understand it would have to be placed through Grander Marine though. Thanks, Lee -----Original Message----- Sent: Thu, Aug 30, 2018 1:35 pm Subject: IMG Hi Lee, My name is Darren Landry and I am the area Representative for Fountain, Donzi and Baja. Tara at the factory gave me your contact information. I wanted to touch base to see if I can help. I apologize for not having your original question on ordering a boat. Would you send me what you are looking for and I will be happy to help. We Thank you for your interest in our product and look forward to hearing back from you soon. Thank you, Darren Landry |
Cant they just make a new mold from an already built boat. If they want, they can use my fountain 35 Lightning as a model. |
