You could probably have the best of both worlds via a removable open bow cap. Progression has done it with their 24ft model.

I remember seeing a 47 Fountain lightning with an open bow. Anyone seen that boat before? I think it was a 1998?

Your wife is correct.

Start with something less valuable. Unless you’re talking about an old straight bottom 38 that isn’t very nice.
