Default Spacers for trim tabs

29 fountain is better to leave spacers on trim tabs, or remove them, speed increase? Pros cons?

Leave them on. They are there for a reason. Without them the boat will chine walk uncontrollably at higher speeds. I tried it many years ago!

10-4 I could see it walking around a bit with hydramotive props with the -trim of the tab any difference with a bow lifting prop like the bravo one? Thanks for the reply! With hydramotive prop I have to run at least 4 on the tabs to make it stop porpoising, but with bravo I can run tabs all the way up to 3 with zero porpoise, just wondering if I can get boat on the pad(Notch) with the spacers gone to run them all the way to 1 on the indicators. But as was said don’t want that chine walk at speed!

Best way to start is find the neutral point, on your indicators, for the tabs. The point where the tabs are parallel with the bottom of the boat. Then go from there, on most Fountains there is little, if any, advantage to going above that point. Simple to do, all you need is a straight edge and a friend to sit in the boat and run the tabs. While you are at it do the same with the drives. Only thing that is important is knowing where the tabs are in relation to the boat bottom, numbers mean little here.

One more thing here would be to make sure your prop rotation is right, Fountain factory can provide that info for you, or some on here could also. What year, model and power you have will play into that answer.

29 Twin Scorpion 377 Factory test sheet is hydramotive 24 pitch spinning in, I have bravo 28 on it now, I can only spin 28 to about 4700 but the cruze speed is amazing I don’t run it wot maybe twice this season only for a mile or two. I probably need a 26 bravo To get to the rpms up a little, or lab the 28s... I know 3 on the indicator is flush with bottom of boat, just thought there might be a little more speed rpm if I could get the boat Freed up a little more with the -trim on the tabs... I’ve seen fountains with the spacers and I’ve seen them without online so thought it was worth the post! Thanks again guys for the responses!
