The 2 engine compartment flood lights on my 1990 27/29' fever were missing when I acquired the boat. Wanting to replace them with something, preferably some sort of LED light fixture. Don't want to install LED light strips, just want something to replace the original light assemblies and mount them in the original spots. I've found adjustable interior reading lights but not sure they would hold-up very well in the bilge plus they are more of a spot light than a flood light.
Who's been down this road already?

I bought these to replace mine in my 32'. Available in spot or flood patters and a night and day difference in what came with the boat. I'm sure you can find similar ones for less somewhere but these worked great for me.

After reading many many reviews, it sounds like if you seal them up, they will last a while hanging off your bumper so figured they should be fine in the bilge. Saw they have 3 different models. A 12W steady light, a 12W light that can be set to steady light or ~11 different flashing modes, and a 18W steady light. Wanted something that wasn't too big and didn't draw a lot of power so was looking hard at the 12W steady light version. Then noticed the light with the steady/flashing option was ~$11 while the steady 12W light was ~$26. Went with a couple of the steady/flashing ones. Wasn't really looking for bling but the flashing function might be kinda cool at the dockside watering hole. May pickup another for the front of my street bike for use as a flashing Daytime Running Light primarily.

These lights have a metal body and a glass front panel so hopefully they will hold-up for a while. BTW, finding an decent exterior light that easily mounts to a flat vertical surface and doesn't pull a bunch of amps wasn't that easy. I'll update the thread when I get them installed. Got the lights installed over the weekend.
Before installing, I ran a couple of tests. Found both lights together pull 1.5A @ 12V.or 750mA each. Rear heat-sink temp reached 137 degs F after ~10 mins.and stabilized.
Originally wanted to mount them in the stock position but after testing, found just outboard of the trim pumps gave the best coverage. Also installed wedges under the mounts to cant the lights inboard a bit. Area between engs is illuminated from reflected light but looks like I may need 1 more light for the middle.

Played with the flashing mode a bit. Seems to work ok however they don't stay in sync with each other. At $11 each, I can't complain at all. We'll see how long they last.
