I strongly urge against cutting holes in the rear seat. Did that on my first Fountain and used Free air subs, extremely disappointed.
On my new Fountain, I custom made sealed boxes that fit under the bolsters, or the cushion on the sides, then carpted them the same color as the lay in carpet,(in my case Purple). I used 10" Kicker Sealed Comp series, running off a Fosgate Punch 250 amp, if I was going to do it today I would use the Kicker Solobaric 10 or 12 if they will fit, the ones that are Square, yes a square speaker, I have heard these things and they hit solid.
I will try to track down some pics for you.

Many people put subs under the rear seat, but I've designed my own systems in cars, and I can tell ya, only thing that's happening is all the base is going into the engine compartment. that's why they sound crappy in the cockpit, but if you close yourself in the engine compartment, I bet it rocks! LOL!
My best sounding box came from a sealed box. In fact, the design is such that the speaker doesn't show. It fires from one chamber into another and the sound is produced from the ports off the BACK SIDE of the sub. That was an impressive sound. Too impressive as it got stolen

32Fever, You are correct, I had climbed in the engine comp when the stereo was going to change oil, I couldn't believe the bass in there
Lesson, go with a sealed enclosure, plus when you go to sell it the new owner may not want the big holes in the rear seat.

My 2000 32' Fever came with 4 10" Subwoofers totally sealed enclosure within the back seat and it's a serious thumper! However, it left no room for anything back there. I'm not sure I would have given up the room for the sound with any alternatives, but I'm dealing with it as it is!

dug up this old thread...............
sprung for a new clarion deck and a remote, am thinking about an extra amp to run a single sub, any thoughts about location, I was thinking about mounting it on the vertical plane of the cockpit liner(cutting a hole in the glass) under the glovebox.....so the passenger could kick it
.........or mounting it in an enclosure which would be mounted in the cabin

Twin29,
I put the CD deck in the cabin away from elements, then ran the Sony wired remote from it and mounted it on my dash.
You may have problems mounting the CD deck infront of the passanger seat, I know on my 27 the clove box goes deep and would prevent that type of install.

Sorry, I meant mounting the sub on the passenger kick plate below the glovebox or putting the sub in a box and mounting it in the cabin. If I went with the cabin route I was thinking of having it so I could bungee the box to the top of the useless sink while underway the have some extra wire so I could move the whole box with the sub topside while parked.....doug

On my 27 I'd thought about a sealed box with fabricated to fit into port wall kick panel for the passenger. 1 10" or 12 solarbaric? Any thoughts?
I don't want to loose any of my covernous storage spaces (insert sarcasim).
Thanks.

Hi Everyone!
I originally posed the question. To date, the two best places I've considered are: A single 10" sub in a sealed enclosure under the passenger seat which could be unmounted before poker runs; or in the very front of the bow (where the anchor locker is in the new Fountains) with the woofer(s) facing toward the stern.
Has anyone tried these? If so, what are the results?
Thanks, Ralph
