Fountain 12 meter restore
Here are some pics of the 12 meter I bought a few months back. Will be doing a full wrap on her later this month then adding lots of seating. I already installed new stereo system and a new head. She is powered by triple merc 275s. Hopefully next year I will upgrade power to triple 350s then tune to 450s. At the moment though she does ok and is the best riding boat I have been on so far. The cockpit area is huge with the rear hatch removed. Will add seating similar to what a 47 has with 2 rows of bolsters then a u shaped seat in the back. Then A/C , generator, fridge and microwave inside.

You talked with a buddy of mine at the new years run, its running 55-60 right now correct?
The 350's should help it out a LOT. |
Love your boat, and your vision..........Take a classic offshore boat and make it even better for your needs.
Looks great, keep us updated with your upgrades. RR |
I actually love the current stripes and colors

The 350's should help it out a LOT. 300s 69mph 350s 79 mph flashed them to 460 and he got 89.5 I am not really looking to go 90 but mid to upper 70s will be nice just incase a fishing boat tries to pass me lol. seems like a little more power will get her out of the water more and get a big increase in speed. I could tune these 275s but they are old and don't want to pop one. Good part at cruise she will get 1.4 miles per gallon and if I pull her back some more I can get 1.7 mpg. That's better then my scarab 31 I had with twin 300s. |

That was the guy I bought it from. But right now she is getting 64mph since I got the motors running decent. I have another guy I talked to who has a 42 lightning and he was getting similar numbers.

yep I had the scarab with the conversion. well 400s are quite a bit more but the 400 and 350 are the same motor aside from the tune on the ECU. So it cheaper to grab 350s then tune them. The hard part is finding a person to do the tune. |

dammit. I knew I should have gone all out and put outboards on my 292 instead of just replacing the 350s I/Os.

Few pics. New wrap installed and got the new front seats done and middle seats done. Next will be redoing back seat. Had to get front and mid seats done first to see how much room I had left. Then seadek sometime after that. Flat out loving the boat. Took her to Bahamas for the week last week. Great time had by all. Boat got to see some 8 footers coming home. Going over in the 5s she did fantastic. With the 8s we took 2 over the bow but she did fine. Was glad we had a 40 footer instead of our old 32 footer for sure. She crushed Haulover inlet. Haulover was nothing compared to what we saw in the Atlantic that day.
she can hold a crap load of beer! We came back much lighter lol. All in all a fantastic trip! Nothing broke accept we blew one speaker on the transom. Wanted to replace those anyway with bigger ones. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...918d64b71d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...862056ecf2.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0f80d565fc.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3861865501.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e1b82798fb.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4cc7722e14.jpg |
Great colors, they go together very well. If you’re looking for an AC unit I have one I no longer need. Dometic 12000btu.
|
That looks fantastic! Well done
If you make the haul over YouTube guys page post a vid |
I like the second row seats, are you going to do that for the third row? Seems like that would work and have steps in the middle to get on the swim.
I know what people hate on my boat is when running and you are sitting in the back seat you can not see forward. And just doing a solid blue wrap was a good ideal, so many do horrible graphics with the wraps. |
I like the sh!t out of it!!!

Was going to build a bench seat with storage underneath and some kind of step in the middle to get in and out with seadek on it. Still working that out in my head. I went with the solid so when it gets damaged its easy to patch and like you I didn't want crazy stuff all over it. |

I will be doing an AC at some point in time. I hope to set up lithium battery's for it so it can run for a whole night. What kind of $$ are you looking for?
Should have plenty of room for a gen now! |

Should have plenty of room for a gen now! I do have room for a genny but just don't want to deal with having to worry about exhaust fumes along with another water inlet that can leak and all that comes with the genny. We will see. Still might end up with one lol. Its down the list for needs though right now. First is back seat and seadek. |
Awesome boat man, love the outboard conversion, works well with the flat transom.
Personally, would try to install some kind of lounger in transom seating, but it will be a challenge to get that to work in a way where you can lounge and actually see out of the boat. Might be better off with some tall stand up/drop down bolsters and a good cooler with padded top to put your fee up on. How fast does it run with the trip 275's? |

So I was going to build a U shaped lounger in the back but after getting the middle seats installed and taking a trip with a few coolers its getting tight space wise so probably going back with bench or 2 separate seats with step in the middle. Was thinking to build 2 seats with a yeti cooler built into the middle that doubles as a step. |
Have to say, pretty interesting makeover. Also gotta like the cabin filled with Ultra ! Of course that's for when the day is done. If coming to LOTO for the holiday, beware. WP will be out in full force. Looking for impaired boat drivers. They already know that everyone else aboard will be totally impaired. Been a ****e show all season already.

Was thinking to build 2 seats with a yeti cooler built into the middle that doubles as a step. What if you had a two piece or maybe three piece bench across the back that could double as an ice chest. The middle piece might be fixed and work like a ladder to the stern as you mentioned in previous post, add some storage to the steps. The side pieces could have built in ice chest instead of the middle piece. Could move one piece in front of the other piece to create a double lounger if needed without taking up all the space. Could remove one piece to open up a spot to stand while fishing off the stern. If you had a lot of people running a poker run or something could remove both back pieces to allow four people to stand up in the back. Might be able to stack the two pieces to lay flush with what's left of your sun pad to extend the sunpad. I would remove the headrest on transom seating to allow people to sit up on top of the sunpad. Could use bean bag chairs on top of the side pieces as well to lift your view out of the cockpit when seating in the back. If it could be done a side door that allows for water access like some of the center consoles would be super cool, but not sure if that's a good idea on an old go-fast. Love the trip and pictures and the wrap really gives it a more modern look - great timeless design. That's my ultimate dream vacation/lifestyle - an outboard powered go-fast with generator and AC to use on week long run's around Florida coast and to the Bahamas. 2-3 trips a year would be all I need. |

That's pretty good for trip 275 verados. Yeah the more I dreamed about an ideal cockpit layout the more I gravitate towards more of a modular design that's versatile and can be modified for the intended use of the day. Would be nice to be able to fish out the back, hope I don't get trolled for that comment.

Yes She is pretty much all we need! Just need to work out the details. I don't fish at all and just assume to buy it at a restaurant rather then waist relaxing time with my wife drinking beer lol. I thought about building the cooler into the back seat and still might do that. The issue is sometimes I need to get back to a panel behind that seat to top off power steering or maintenance on trim pumps batteries ect. So What ever I do it needs to be removable pretty fast at least in the middle. This trip with the mid seats finally in and 6 of us all doing snorkeling with gear for the first time I felt cramped in the boat. I was like dam I cant do that big L shaped seat I want no room. That was allot of people though and not a normal day. Next month we plan on taking her to the keys and doing the dry tortugas from our house on the water in newport richey FL. That will be about 20 hours of boating that week. and crazy distance. |

2 tanks 110 each so 220 gallons. |
The 12 meter completer her trip to the keys with no issues perfect! We did 769 miles and burned up 686 gallons of fuel lol. We split the ride up into 2 days going down and coming home. That made those days 3 and a half hours on those 4 days. Dry tortugas was an hour and a half ride to the island and same coming back accept ours was longer due to thunder storms. We saw a cool water spout that was all fun and games until the lightning started up right next to us. Really had to watch the fuel burn going to tortugas since its 150 miles round trip with no fuel stops and the weather made that trip longer. All in all a great vacation and boat did fantastic. Will start working on probably back seat soon to get it replaced.
