Default Fountain 12 meter restore

Here are some pics of the 12 meter I bought a few months back. Will be doing a full wrap on her later this month then adding lots of seating. I already installed new stereo system and a new head. She is powered by triple merc 275s. Hopefully next year I will upgrade power to triple 350s then tune to 450s. At the moment though she does ok and is the best riding boat I have been on so far. The cockpit area is huge with the rear hatch removed. Will add seating similar to what a 47 has with 2 rows of bolsters then a u shaped seat in the back. Then A/C , generator, fridge and microwave inside.

Few pics. New wrap installed and got the new front seats done and middle seats done. Next will be redoing back seat. Had to get front and mid seats done first to see how much room I had left. Then seadek sometime after that. Flat out loving the boat. Took her to Bahamas for the week last week. Great time had by all. Boat got to see some 8 footers coming home. Going over in the 5s she did fantastic. With the 8s we took 2 over the bow but she did fine. Was glad we had a 40 footer instead of our old 32 footer for sure. She crushed Haulover inlet. Haulover was nothing compared to what we saw in the Atlantic that day.

she can hold a crap load of beer! We came back much lighter lol.

All in all a fantastic trip! Nothing broke accept we blew one speaker on the transom. Wanted to replace those anyway with bigger ones.

You talked with a buddy of mine at the new years run, its running 55-60 right now correct?

The 350's should help it out a LOT.

Love your boat, and your vision..........Take a classic offshore boat and make it even better for your needs.
Looks great, keep us updated with your upgrades.

That was the guy I bought it from. But right now she is getting 64mph since I got the motors running decent. I have another guy I talked to who has a 42 lightning and he was getting similar numbers.
300s 69mph
350s 79 mph
flashed them to 460 and he got 89.5

I am not really looking to go 90 but mid to upper 70s will be nice just incase a fishing boat tries to pass me lol. seems like a little more power will get her out of the water more and get a big increase in speed. I could tune these 275s but they are old and don't want to pop one.

Good part at cruise she will get 1.4 miles per gallon and if I pull her back some more I can get 1.7 mpg. That's better then my scarab 31 I had with twin 300s.

Thanks! I like it also but the wife wants it wrapped. Guess the good part is the gell will be under it if I ever get sick of it.

I think I may have sen pictures of the SCARAB if it was the one converted from I/O's. How much more are used 400's over the 350's?

yep I had the scarab with the conversion.

well 400s are quite a bit more but the 400 and 350 are the same motor aside from the tune on the ECU. So it cheaper to grab 350s then tune them. The hard part is finding a person to do the tune.

On getting the tune done, yes I seen the tread that the tect tools report back to mother Merc if one has been tuned. That is BS but doesn't surprise me.

dammit. I knew I should have gone all out and put outboards on my 292 instead of just replacing the 350s I/Os.
