47 Fountain Tips???
#1
I am concidering buying a used 47 Fountain Lightning 1999 - 2001, I have read some of the problems with a 42 on this board but I could not find any real info on the 47's. Anything to look out for reguarding the hull and rigging? Speeds I figure will be in the high 70's low 80's with HP 500 EFI's Sound reasonable? Any help would be appreciated. I currently have a 38 Powerquest and am loking to upgrade into a bigger boat. Thanks

the 47 is a awsome ride, i particularly like them with the race fairing, there are no problems with them that im aware of ive owned 2 fountains since 94 a 90 and my present boat a 98 both have been 42's the 500's will make that boat run low 80's all day long and with some tweeking for top end they will run 85ish.
they have a beam over 9ft and weigh around 14000lbs depending on accessories (a/c, gen etc.) the 99-2001 is the last design with the steps if you compare to early 47 95-98 you will notice the height of the steps has changed. at 2500-3000 rpm that boat will lope along at 40 giving a rolls royce ride and at 85 it will feel very stable and nimble not bulky.
