Default 42 lightning triples or staggered?

I was having a look at a 98 42 lightning with trip hp500s and bravos I have a couple of questions about this. Would a staggered 42 be better all around, performance fuel etc? Also guys telling me upper 80s which I don’t believe. how fast would a 42 go with this kind of power? I just feel like a boat with triples is undesirable esp in times like these with soaring gas prices. Obviously boating is never a cheap hobby. What’s your take?

Most do not like trips.

Upper 80's should not be a issue, my buddy had a small step 525SC trip that was a 92 mph boat all day. 98 Was the very large step hull. Tripe 42's are tanks but resell is less then the same with stag.
