Default K&N Flame Arresters

Any performance to gain by using K&N Flame Arresters on 496 425 hp engines on a 35' Fountain single step?

Search articfriends posts. He did dyno testing on flame arrestees on 502mag.
Think his take away was “save your money”
Dont know on 8.1 though.

Might keep some of the hair, potato chips, towel lint and other stuff out of your intake, plus they look nicer.

No, the factory air cleaner flows better. Just keep it clean. There was a test done several years ago on such.
I don't remember how many layers of screens there are on it, but at one point they removed all but one layer, and it still maintained the "spark protection Coast Guard requirement" stamp on it, so you could do that although not smart.
