Let me rephrase this, it doesn't necessarily have to be a big windshield it needs to be a functional windshield! I guess I just got used to driving cat boats sitting behind a canopy where you get no wind in the face!
Being up here in Northern MI. we run a lot of days where that air is pretty cool in late summer, early fall.

If want the most functional windshield in a Fountain then you are going want to look at a 42 Poker Run, 38 /48 Express cruiser or any of the fishing boats. Maybe an old ex race boat with a full canopy too.
Most of the sport boats are a wind in your face experience.

I need to ask, I understand the want of not getting blasted, I drove a 38TG and the little wind flaps did nothing, the wind would smash your glasses into your face. Not fun.
I have been on and have the fountain with the older style windshields and the little turn up lip works great no issues. 8-9 months ago I was looking at a 42 lightening with a cut down windshield and was wondering about the wind issue. When I talked with the boat owners mechanic about it he said when sitting the way the wind came across the bow he didn't get blasted.
Can anyone confirm that here?

You are asking very subjective questions. There is no one size fits all. No on can guarantee your experience sitting or standing behind the windscreens on any Fountain.
The taller the windshield the more "wind protection" you might have when sitting. But if you are 6 feet tall....all bets are off on a Fountain. They are snug at the helm position and most taller folks preferred standing just for the leg room.

I had a 38 lightning and I came with a fiberglass race fahring I changed to a cut down windshield most times I stood but when the lake wasn’t super busy and we were goi g for a long cruise I would sit down and would not get blasted with wind. I am 6’ tall if that helps at all

02 can be semi-stagger or side by side w/large or small steps. I think small steps are on side by side. My 02 38 has semi-stagger, large steps, tall windshield, full bimini w/surrounds. Warmed 575SCi's w/factory tunes and limiters(.030, roller cams, IC and smaller pulley for 4#'s). SCX's w/6 shafts and Hering props. 102 any day, 107 best. Myco trailer. Was planning on selling in 2 years if you can wait, or 'buy it now" lol PM if you have any questions. Rob
