Default Fountain 38 Express Cruiser

Has anyone installed Captain Call or something similar on a Fountain Express Cruiser? I miss the growl of my old fountain. Any advice would be appreciated

If you're considering a unit that has side exhaust outlets, take a close look at where they'd need to be mounted. Assuming you have a 38EC, there isn't much room to install side exhaust components.

I was hoping they had a captain call like I had on my Fountain Fever and would not have to exit the exhaust out the sides

I have thought about it. If yours is like mine they have the y pipe in there and mine has corsa pipes in there. They look just like the silent choice ones they just don’t have a valve in there. I’m guessing it’s for pressure or water drain back from the turndowns. It looks like you would just need to get some diverters and some short tailpipes and would be good to go.

Thanks for the advice. I guess that option was not available from the factory.

I'm not aware of any 38 EC's that left the factory with silent choice. They all had turndown's which probably were more suited to a cruiser even if it was a Fountain. None of them were side exhaust that's for sure.

Could you put silent choice on it? Yes you could, but I'm pretty sure any exhaust tips would be underwater off plane, so what is the point. The turn downs are basically going to accomplish the same sound goal without adding mechanical complexity.

Thanks for the advice. So if the turn downs were cut and the exhaust came out of the transome straight the boat would be much louder when not on plane? Thats what we are looking for but we want an option to keep her quiet.

Yes, that was the point of the turndowns, to keep the tips below the surface of the water at rest. Remove or cut them and then it would be very loud 100% of the time. (assuming the tips are above the waterline). I a not 100% sure what the gap is between the bottom of your swim platform and top of the water, if there is one at all.

Ok thanks. Well I’m looking for the option for both at any time. Definitely appreciate your knowledge!

It would be pretty slick if an after-market company could come up with replacement transom exhaust pipes for the 38EC that had the capability of electrically/mechanically being rotated from their normal down-turned angle, to horizontally straight. If something like that existed I'd probably add it to my 38EC.

Just curious, besides the Fountain 38EC, are there other transom exhaust boats out there that have this down-turn angled exhaust?
