I would get the 35 for the sound if you can. It can get rough as you know.

I think you'd be ok with either one. If I had to choose, its be the 35. I ran a 25 foot on the sound for 10 years and a 35 the last two years. Never had to turn back with the the 25. However, the ride is much better on the 35 when it kicks up and the peace of mind having two engines. For whatever reason, the marine forecast for the sound isn't the most accurate. Many times, it said 1 foot or less and was 2 to 3 when I went out.

1) You are going to want a bigger/twin engine boat within one season anyhow.
2) Twin engine boats are actually MUCH easier to drive IMHO and IME than a single engine boat, both when running and docking.

Just skip the baby step, and go twin. If you can fit it where you want; go right to a 38. Trust us. You will learn quickly.

on lake ontario we can run better and get home easier with our 25 than our 38 that is just long enough to span 2 waves so you are always crashing into the next wave where the 25 seems to drive up and over the down the other side i guess there is no perfect answer find what you will have the most fun with
