I bought this boat last fall but unfortuntely it has a 525EFI that was built into a 540 with stock heads and carb by the old owner 10 years ago. It is needing a refresh this winter but does anyone know if a carbureted Whipple will fit under the factory engine hatch? Looking for more power but dont want to change the look of the factory swim pad. I do not have any of the original EFI parts from Mercury and have been told it is expensive to try and switch it back to EFI.

I cant say for sure, but just thinking about how much space there is above my 525efi in my 2003 Fountain.. if you were to add a Whipple and carb on top of that it would be right at the limit it not over it... Also depends on if you run any intercoolers/superchillers with it. Would all come down to a matter of inches.

Unless you already have the carb'd whipple, why not just buy the EFI version and a Holley EFI kit to run it? Then you would for sure have the room and could run an intercooler...just have to swap the manifold which whipple sells obviously and you could sell your current setup to regain some cash. Or could ditch that idea all together and do a blow thru procharger setup....just an idea
