Default Top Speed of 2006 Fountain 38 LX with 400 Verados (L6)

Anyone have any info on the top speed of a Fountain 38 LX with Mercury Verado (L6) 400s? I saw someone posted that they were able to get 76 mph with 350s, but that's hard to believe...anyone know?

Friend of mine has a triple 400 38 CC that runs in the mid 80s. He wanted 90 and messed with props, engine height etc. Has not made it that I know of.

With triple 400 Verados on a 38 LX, I would expect something in the high 60s to low 70s mph in good conditions with the right props and a light load. The 76 mph claim with 350s sounds possible but only with ideal setup and perfect water.

I guy by me has one with trip 350’s and it runs in the low 70’s.

I have been next to him on a run and I have to tell you it surprised me and looks a bit weird for something that big to be moving along like that.

Don’t forget the 400’s are only 400’s with the right fuel/ air temp etc.
