Default Fountain interiors vinyl

My '94 cockpit interiors vinyl interior is what I would call a soft vinyl. Have looked at a few newer yrs, '96-'98. These seem to have a more tougher canvas-like appearance and feel. Is this the case with all newer yrs, including the 2000 models?
I would assume it would be for more wear resistant, but the newer models still have the same stitching pulling problems on the rear seat and the hatch headrest seams.

I have a 96 Fever and the vinyl is significantly different than Charles' (27 Fountain's boat) and Joe's 98 Fever is significantly different than mine. I like the vinyl that you and Charles have much better than what I have - mine is more like a "sandpaper" grain (much smaller grain appearance - almost like pimples)instead of the "soft", less grainy, vinyl. Joe's 98 is softer and less grainy than mine, but not as nice as what you and Charles have. I asked Fountain about this and they said that they change vinyl vendors alot (I asked because I wanted to get some of mine repaired and wanted matching "grain"). Fountain said that they couldn't provide me with "matching" vinyl.

Yeah, I really prefer the vinyl that is in mine. It has the same feel and texture as the leather thats in the cabin. Sounds like yours must be the texture that I have seen.
So it goes from soft-hard, '94-'98-'96 respectfully? Any idea on even newer?
Thanks

Anything after '98 has the soft stuff. And the stuff after 2001 is really good. I have a '99 and love it. The stuff they used in '96 and '97 was bad.

Ok, a '99 is in the works, but I just found a 150 hr '98 that has a great price. I fully understand about the 96-97 interiors, how about the '98 compared to the '99? Same or slightly different.

The interior is my deciding factor.

US1,

My 27' is a 99 model with the smooth vinyl. The 42' is a 98 model with the pebbly stuff.

I've got the tough stuff in my 97. It looks like new and I don't have a problem with it. Don't know that I'd pass on a great deal because of it.

Thanks guys for the insight. Going to look at a '99 this weekend.
Also, looks like '99 is when Fountain did away the tuck in the rear seat. Good move as far as the stitch pulling conscerns. The tuck looked nice though.
