Default Few Fountain Questions

I wanted to get some basic information on 2 models of fountains if you guys have a minute.

First
Roughly how fast was a 40 foot (12 meter) ICBM with twin 420's?
Second
are the cabins in these boats comfortable or just more or less a padded hole you can climb into?
Enclosed head compartment for the wife?

Third,
Weight, how much did these things weigh in at on a trailer? Should my F350 Diesel dually pull this thing with ease?
(2003 F350 Dually)

Last, How much price wise are these things running?
What is a good price, what is a crummy price?
I know it depends on condition and engine HP and size ect.
I have always liked the ICBM's and since I cant afford the apache I want I figured this would be a MAJOR step up towards that goal for later on in life but a big step up from my baja now.

Thoughts, input, suggestions?
Thanks guys!!!
Jason

Jayl13, the early 12mm 86-89 were a great rough water boat, there were two decks a long deck and a extended cockpit version. speed on a 420 trs drive boat was in the low 60's, the cabins where sparse in luxury terms but not just a padded hole the did have a head in them. most of the cabins ive seen are configured simular to todays 42 head to the right counter to the left two couches rgt and left and vberth up front, im guessing weight was in the 8500-9000 range. as for as price you will find them every were from low 30's - high 80's. 88-89 would be the more desirable up dated upholstry windshields etc. early moldels used a metal frame windshields and the later moldels used the plexigalss windshield cleaner look. that late 89 and 90 40ft had the molded in swim plateform recessed deck hatches much better upholstry and trimmed out a little nicer. they can be bought in the upper 60's to mid 90's depending on power i had a 90 40ft with 365's and bravos would run 63mph may have been able to tweek more with props and stuff. while it was no rocket ship it was a tank for cruising around in witha comfortable and predictable ride.
hope that helps

Thanks
Yeah I LOVE the plexi glass windshields (dark tinted)
Love them with the arch
I dont get the time frame that they went to the moulded in swim platform though
Have seen them (ICBM) with no swim platform and the transom is HUGE on those things.
which one is more advantageous the higher transom with no swim platform or the moulded in swim platform?
you can get alot of boat for the money with these things.
Next boat though, Im not going on a 20 minute test drive around in a lake, im going OUT for a while and beat the snot out of it and make SURE I get something that is not going to cause me grief.
Did all of these come in triple or some in Twin?
Im leaning more towards Twins, dont mind blowers but dont want anything NUTS due to having to rebuild them more often.
Where I boat at, is a river between Philly and NJ and hope to head down to Chesapeake bay some days and sleep out for weekends and such.
From memory, Fountains dont have monster head room either?
okay to sleep out on for weekends?
Thanks for the reply
Jason

the molded in swim platform was on real late 89's and all 90's it wasnt untill 90 that you could get a triple engine 40 in 91 they started calling the 40 with molded swim platform a 42. same boat as a 40 and all non swim platform 40fts are called 12meters. i have not seen any pleasure version 86-89's with staggered but i know race versions were staggered. also the early 12meters had teak which dates them. i think fast boats server is down so i cant look at the boat. hope this helps

Hey Dave,
No umm board gods have that site sort of blocked so you cant get there from here, some rivalry something or another
Go to their main site, go to Gallery menu and go into Video Gallery
Then the MPG is called Too Bad from Tinkerboater
I dont know what year/power/ fountain that is but It has REALLY caught my eye.
when it blasts past Tink's scarab, it looks so level in the water and looks like it is running very efficiently.
does not bob up and down trememdously like my baja does.
and those lines are to die for.
I cant believe Reggie went with the glass/metal wrap around widshields, I think the newer ones ruined the look of the plexi glass angled windshields.
they were just really TOUGH looking boats, the lines are just classic and timeless
I wont buy a boat with ANY teak wood on it.
I would rather redo plywood every few years than have teak exposed and there for 50 years.
My opinion
thanks for the help
Jason

Could there be a Deal made on it?
What do you think?
Does it have a trailer?
In pics and write up it says nothing about a trailer,
Maybe a phone call is appropriate
Also in looking at the blowers.
Look how it has 2 carbs total
Why are there block off plates where the front carbs should be?
Can you do that to a blown engine without it leaning out and causing detonation?
What HP were those engines to begin life? Any guess?
420's or 365?
(they did not put 330's in them did they?)
Sorry but just am very curious about these and in watching the one on that video from F A S T B 0 A T $ dot I N F O video gallery
I have this force driving me to investigate the fountains of last decade, they look incredible and fountain has a great reputation

as for as a deal goes give them a call, like i said that boat has been for sale for 2-4years down here at the lake i belive it has 420's the blowers only have one carb on top, ive seen many that way i think they say 2 carbs per motor give better fuel disturbutuion. i have never seen the boat on a trailer so i assume there isnt one i spoke with the owner that gave it away for charity for the write off ( thats why i know about the charity thing) he was a denist from KC he tried to sell with no luck then took the write off. he moved into a searay for the family he said he had alot of problems keeping it running correctly maybe the blower issue he didnt seem to be very mechanically inclined, you know put fuel in tank and go type. i actually was down at LOTO this last weekend and drive by mid-missouri all the time and i was looking in their lot. that boat was not thier so maybe they moved it are sold it or put in back although i looked (from the highway at their back lot and didnt see it. kind of hard to miss yellow and all. if i can help let me know.
