Default Fuel gauge indications...29 Fever.

Just noticed that the fuel guage on my 2004 29 Fever still reads full with 9 hours out of a full tank! Sure would be nice if this is true but... Anyone have any experience with Fountain gauges reading high? The "Reggie video" that comes with the boat says that when the gauge reads 1/4 full you had best find some motion lotion...quick. What's the story?

They like to say full for a long time and then they start moving down very quickly.

Mine does it too. I think the whole set up is just positioned at such an angle that when running the tank sensor reads a smaller and smaller portion of the tank as fuel runs down....thus the acceleration to E of the fuel gauge.

The tank is "v" shaped at the bottom like your hull. Top half is bigger. Mine holds 60 gal. 3/4means 30 left, 1/2 means 20 left. 1/4 means I need a tow. JC

you are right, due to tank geometry (v) the tank sending unit stays in the upper larger portion of the tank. Once the level indicator starts to drop into the lower section fo the V you will find a much more for rapid change in guage position. I have run my guages past E and still have about 15 gallons in the tanks. The level indicator can not really get down into the very bottom of the V.

In my 27, I went from 1/4 to outta gas in under 5 mins. From then on, when it started moving past 1/2, I start thinking about gas. When it says 1/4, I better be tying up to the gas dock.

My 32 is a little better, but not much.

I went home from the dealer brand new ,lost one motor on my 38 at 1/8 tank near my dock , always had to matiain 1/4 tank at all times on port side til one sending unit went bad
found that bad reading sender was adjustable type ,
replaced both senders and adjusted them both to read empty slightly before empty .
