I have the 176C and actually think it works pretty good. Plus I mounted the bracket to the bottom of an upside plastic cup and use it in the car in thecup holder. You are correct in that the screen is difficult to read at cruise or above but I really like the custom screens that you can set up. One screen shows only max speed, time, distance and current speed in four large boxes.

I didn't look at the 182 but the next one I buy will be huge!

I like that screen too! Mine has running speed, course, Lat/Long and max speed. I have the non-color 176 and it's OK to read in the sun. Mounted it on top of the dash to the left of the compass. I like the fact that it's easily portable so I can use it in the car as well as the boat. Love the idea about the upside-down cup!

It never ceases to amaze me what kind of ideas you can pick up on these threads...as Purepower says, it's too bad we are so far removed geographically, it would be a hoot to all get together and go for a rip and some afterwards beer! Best to all.

I picked mine up in Seabrook TX (Thanks Bruce) where it ran 75, so I must have been close to Jana.

I live in Northern Illinois and it's only 982 miles back for service! (actually the local Fountain dealer i(Riverview) is only 125 miles away and was very food about my warranty issues.

We could all meet at the Miami show and say hi to Reggie!

The best part is that my mother-in-law still doesn't know her cup is missing.

Fountainclimber - you were right down the street from my marina. I asked Bruce to help me find a used 27, but no luck. I beat him to it, cut out the middleman and found a 29 besides. He's moved to the newest dry stack place and is mostly selling cats (Skater, Eliminator).
