New Fountain faster than Isabel

I just picked up my new ordered Fountain at my dealer yesterday.

It was one of the last boats out of the factory before the storm. I was real nervous.

I am thankfull it made it from N.C. to Seattle in perfect shape, just like I ordered it. I am also relieved to hear the Fountain factory is back up & safely made it through the storm.

04' 29 Fever HP525 XR Bravo

Sunday looks to be sunny & 75 so i'm gonna get her wet!

looks really nice..........I should hope it's faster than Isabel...she was only moving at 25 mph

I have been considering the same boat/engine configuration. (Also the 27 Fever, Donzi 26/28, Formula 27 and 29.) This will be my first foray into offshore hi-performance boating. I have been mulling over whether to go new or used, etc. etc.

Since I am just up the street from you (Vancouver, BC), and I have been in touch with Joe@Powerboats NW I am curious as to how you decided on the 29 and what else you looked at. Also, where have you taken it out and how did it handle? Did you buy from Powerboats NW or elsewhere - how did it go?

Thanks.

Awesome! She ought to really run with that set-up. Can't wait to hear the report.

Congrats, looks great, I like the lower windshild. Should run well with the 525.

Thanks everybody, my new Fountain is awesome.

The Fountain factory test reported 80 gps mph @ 5200 wot.

I have 5 hours on it & got 83 gps mph here in the N.W.. The factory prop is a 26 left hander.

Mike, in answer to your question about your shopping, I was recently in your shoes, I had a 21' Sea Ray & wanted to enter the Offshore arena. I was looking at the 29 Fountain & the 292 Formula. I recognize the quality, the fit & finish of the Formula, also the twin 6.2's.
I decided on the Fountain because I like the boat better - simple as that. I liked the feel & look of the Fountain, the Mercury Racing 525 & the complete aggressive profile.
But there's no wrong answer, just personal preference.
I purchased the boat from Joe @ Powerboats NW. I would recommend going that route. I wanted to order the boat myself picking my combination & graphics/colors. When the boat came in Joe & I cut the shrinkwrap & it was a cool experience. I also like the idea of having a performance dealer right here within 20 miles of my house who specializes in this hobby, Joe organizes Poker Runs & is a big sponsor & promoter of Offshore Powerboating. If you are interested in looking at a 29, he has 2 new ones in stock, a 525 boat & a 496 boat.
Also I see you are looking at the 27 as well. Joe has 2 of those too, 1 a standard windshield & 1 a half windshield. The standard is a demo & is 10k less $.
I actually began the dialog on the 27's, but I went for a ride in a HP525 29', that's all it took for me, the speed, the response out of the hole onto plane & the way it cut through the slop like a knife through butter. After having a bunch (8) of family boats, it is so refreshing to own a boat that doesn't slap, pound, or get me wet with spray.....

Regards,

Mark D

Mark,

Congrat's on your boat! I have been to Powerboats NW a couple of times. We demo'd the 27 you mentioned - it was pretty impressive for me because the last boat I operated was a 20' Four Winns. Unfortunately the test day was dead calm, but nonetheless we loved it. It was March 1st and the full windshield was much appreciated. Having looked at the 29, though, it just seems like so much more boat - I like the 525 set-up - nice balance of speed, lighter weight, efficiency, closed-cooling etc. The cabin in the 29 is also much better. Joe is fantastic to deal with. We still have to look at Formula, and see what they offer. Also still open to the idea of something used - if it is a good deal and good boat.

Anyway, thanks for the comments and enjoy your new "toy".

Mike.

Right on Mike, good luck on your search, that 27 that you took for a ride, it was sold briefly & then traded back in on a new 525 29' that came in w/ american flag graphics.
Anyway I believe that 27' is $69,999 on the trailer. It has 25 hours & to me is a great value.

regards,

Mark D
