how fast?
#1
I just installed a 2" shorty on my 96 27 Fountain, how fast do you guys think I will run now? My best to date with a labbed 32 rh Bravo is 85.5 on GPS last year and after retuning the prop this summer I got 84.7 last weekend. I also have a stock 30 rh Bravo which will run 83 to 83.5. Anybody tried one of the new five blades on a single yet?

Dave,
I have a 502 EFI with a stage II procharger running 5lbs boost. I was begining to wonder if anyone was interested in my project!

That looks sweet, I will guess you will get 2mph out of it maybe more. My big question is if you will blow out easier in turns or if it will be harder to get on plane?? My boat is set up with a 17.5 X Dim and it is slow to plane off.

I ran the boat sunday afternoon and got some strange results, after four passes with each prop the 30 was the fastest at 84.2 but the best I got with the 32 was 81! Also lost 8-9 mph at cruise (3000-3500 rpm). I was not able to use as much trim as before and hit the rev limiter (5400) on both props. The boat planed off as good as before if not better and with the 30p the acceleration was much better than before. The boat did handle a little different, it felt more loose in the rough. I plan trying some different props this weekend, hopefully one of the new Hydro five blades will do the trick. Any input would be appreciated!

The Hydro 5 blades will help out in the crusing range for sure. I ran a pair on a 35 Fountain. The 5 blades also will give a more secure feeling in rougher water. The top end is where you will have to get Hydromotive to tweek them. They will have to be labbed to get the most out of the top end.

Indy,
I'm interested as well. I'm running a 30" Hydro 4 blade LH lab finished at 5400 for 86mph gps. This is in a Whippled 27'/502 mpi. I'll be interested to know if you see any problems getting on plane with a 2" shorty. Mine blows out (std length Teague XR) if you give it too much throttle getting on plane. I'm thinking about a Hering 5 or even 6 blade but they're big bucks.
Thanks,
Mark
