Rubrail Trim Cover

Since I can not seem to get a price from Fountain or Grand Prix (which shows the part on their website), I have decided to make my own. It is the small trim piece that covers the rubrail joint on the stern with Fountain on it. I am going to make the piece from stainless that is powdercoated and then laser engrave the logo but I need to know how long the factory part is. I would appreciate it if someone could give me the length and the distance between the screws. I will try to post a link to a pict of the part.

Thanks, Todd

I would love to get one of those. If you get them made, I would be happy
to send the money in advance,if you could get more than one made.

If you are going to go thru the motions of engraving it, why not put your boat
name on it? Especially since Fountain won't even take the time to call you
back to get the replacement.

You should be able to get the piece of stainless from Taco.

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

I got a piece of 3/4 stainless from Taco and it is a little narrower than I like so I am going to try the 1" and see how it matches. The 3/4" leaves a slight gap when mounted. If all goes well, I will make several because I will have plenty of material. I am getting ready to do a batch of white powdercoating next week and hope to include these at that time. If any one is interested, let me know. Since I have a laser engraver, it will be possible to do custom names. Before I go too far with this, I need to see how the first piece engraves over the curved surface.

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

I was told by one dealer that I did not want to buy one because they are about $60!!!!!! I don't know if they did not want to be bothered with such a part or if that is really correct.

Todd,
I would be interested in one without the engraving, let me know!

A few of the first pieces.

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

I never got a length on the factory piece so I made these about 2.3" long. The piece of trim that I used was drilled for larger screws, so I was able to get 2 pieces 2.3" each between the existing screw holes. I will try to get a shot on the boat today or tomorrow.

Looks great! How much? My lettering has rubbed off.
Be back Sun nite. I think mine is more like 4" though, diffently more than 2 5/16". I will double check tonite.
Thanks

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

Sorry, they are 3.2 to 3.25". The lettering is engraved through the paint so the stainless comes thru.

I need to get $10 apiece for them. I am not looking to get rich on these but I need to cover my cost.

pachangalpina,

You wouldn't happen to know the name of the font that Fountain uses in it's logo would you? I am trying to have a name cut for the stern of my 29 Fever and thought it would be cool to use the factory font...local vinyl guy says he doesn't recognize it.

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

I have sold all of the ones that I have on hand but I am making more. I am going to make the next batch to US1 Fountain's (thanks) measurements. Because of the way the material comes with the holes already for larger screws, I was able to get 2 smaller pieces between the existing holes. Now I can only get 1 between holes. I figure the larger ones will be a few dollars more. I will get another batch done in about a week and will let everybody know.

Thanks, Todd

Re: Rubrail Trim Cover

Glad to see somebody take the time to make a quality, low cost part. They look great. I don't need one (yet). Fountain does get a lot of money for this. I remember a few years back they were made out of a piece of electrical conduit!! Haven't looked close at the one I have now but I hope it's SS.
