Tom..
Manual or power??
If manual the latch assy under seat below the head rest needs WD/40 and then will need to be worked to free up, if power check the breaker under the rear seat..

Power, I checked the breakers under the rear seat, they all looked bad. Any idea wich one controls the bolsters? I know its a old style breaker. Thanks Tom

They are manual reset... on the side of each one is a small button push to reset and test again... should work..(it does not look like a button small rectangular button same color as houseing)

Have you tried powering the bolster motor direct? You can find plenty of B+ power under the dash and jump it direct to the + side of the motor. If that does not work make sure the ground is OK ( unlikely that you will have a bad ground ) and that will mean the motor itself is bad...if it works with the jump, take a voltmeter or circuit checker and trace the wiring back to where current is lost...a pain but better than paying someone $90.00/hr to do the same. You might try to get a wiring diagram out of Fountain (good luck!). Hope you get it squared away soon.

Re: Fountain Bolsters 1991 Model

Just noticed today that my seat no longer goes all the way up before the slip clutch kicks in. It goes to excactly the same spot, about 1 inch too short, not like the clutch is too loose.

More like the push rod got shorter.

I can barely see the head of the bolt that hold the motor at the top of seat frame.

Does anyone know if it can be removed while the seat is intact or have any idea what happened?

FC,

Had this problem twice on my 2004 29. In both cases the seat frame actually bent...this has also happened to others on the site, you can do a search and get some further info. Fountain just shipped a new "re-enforced" seat from the factory and it is being installed this week. I found it very difficult to see where the seat was actually bent until it was removed from the boat. Again, this was my experience and may not be the same problem you are having but it sure sounds the same. BTW, in both cases the seat dropped when I came down hard (but not that hard)...hope this helps. How's that Maximus??

Thanks, I'll check for a bend but I didn't notice that it goes down any farther than the other one.

I have 2 26" B1's, the 28" Maximus, a 30" B1 and a 32 B1. I haven't got a lot of time with the 32 yet but so far, nothing compares to the Maximus. I just have to convince myself that it was not the prop that blew the drive.

If I had the Maximus labbed, it would be perfect.
