Actual versus Fountain test sheet

Wanted to stay amongst friends with this one to avoid any Fountain / cig ot comparisons :)

35 Lightning, twin 500's, XR's, Bravo 30's, inward rotation. We match spec sheet pretty darn close until wot.

Fountain - Drives - 4.5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5300 / speed 86
Actual - Drives 4.5 to 5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5100 / speed 82

I assume Fountain is running driver only with probably 10gal per side. Our run was with my honey on board and 1/2 tank fuel, 83 deg and flat lake water.

Is it going to take some rough to see 5300 because the sticks are jammed. What do you guys think, are we where we should be?

I know Fountain is located in coastal NC but, are they tested in salt?. Is the Pamplico Sound salt, brackish or fresh at that point?

Yes, the boats are tested in salt. It really cracks me up when I hear people are looking for a freshwater ONLY boat.

My 04 29 Fever was exactly the same as the test sheet...I boat in salt water and simulated the same conditions...myself, 50 gallons of fuel and found the tab and trim settings were exact to duplicate the speed that the Fountain driver got on his run.

The Fuel could be the difference too...

40 Gals per side is 80 Gals X 7lbs/gal = 560lbs.

Also, the test sheet will show conditions. If the river water was colder...would also make a difference. Have owned a 29 Single and 35 Lightning and both performance reports were on the money.

Had a buddy with a used 35 twin step that had a similar divergence from the performance report. The boat had different props from the report.

Gotta get that 200 RPM back. Good Luck.

Mine test sheets state at the bottom that min. amount of fuel is used during the testing.

"Fountain - Drives - 4.5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5300 / speed 86"

Are these numbers for a twin step/what year? Would they also apply to a 1996 single step?

You need a 1 to 2 foot chop to break the boat loose from the water. My 35 loses about 5 mph with flat water.
