Re-rig on the 29
Well I finally pulled the trigger. I tore my boat apart.
I'm converting from TRS to XR's with box's(Look out Zane, I'll be asking you a million ?'s) Motors are going to be stroked 454s up to 496's. Naturally aspirated, carburated. I got an complete interior new, from Fountain, to go back in. With the bow railing off she looks really sleek so I think we'll opt for just a low-profile center rail and pop ups. Should look a whole lot cleaner. The windshield is off and it looks like we'll fit a pair of f16 canopies on her. It'll take some glassing but they look like they'll work. I'm leaving them as an option just in case. The panel is going to be replaced with a Monster panel. Should finish off real nice. I'll start posting pics as the work progresses. Should be interesting! |
Re: Re-rig on the 29
Sounds like a heck of a project, try to post pics as you make progress. :drink:

Re: Re-rig on the 29
Motors are already done. Going to pick them up tonight. I'll start dressing those so I'll have pics soon. Nothing to take pics of yet except for a bunch of parts.

Re: Re-rig on the 29
Geez this has been on hold for too many months. Well it's all finally coming together. I pulled yet another all-nighter last night to get the motors in.

Can't stand red bilge.... too dark on old school.
Masked with tin foil and used a two part urethane from West Marine. |

Re: Re-rig on the 29
I replaces ALL the hoses, wire, wire clamps.... you name it. I used the Livorsi Sea Strainers, Eddie water seperator mounts. The extra bottels in the center of the bulkhead are for the Konrad Drives.

Now for the ladies!
|
Re: Re-rig on the 29
The old power was just plain jane 454's. We bumped to 496, 10.4:1, Lumpy Roller cams (Crane 1 notch up from a hp500), Lightning headers, Merlin raised exhaust port heads, Team G duels planes.

Finally! Dressing these things down is no small task. We rigged everything new. Ignition, Alt, pumps, etc. Luckily we have engine harnesses in stock! :D

Re: Re-rig on the 29
I love our new billet flame arrestors. It's a nice finnishing touch and a screeming deal at $250 each!

Re: Re-rig on the 29
Just to give credit where it is due. These motors where dressed and rigged by Greg Banyas who owns Gator Marine and his work is second to none! He did a great job and I've learned a whole lot working on this project with him.

I re-wired the the boat from the panel back. Again, it's nice to have these parts available. The main engine harnesses make a huge difference on a job like this. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent in the past trying to fix some old crappy wiring. The new ones just plug into the motors and then into the panel harness. Clean.
Here are some of the panel. I did Livorsi Monsters, blue super rim with platinum faces. Throttles with duel trim and yes, I left the thottles where Reggie intended them to be! Don't mess with nature. |
Re: Re-rig on the 29
I think I left the other pics of the panel on my wifes memory card so I'll post those up later.
I put in full hydraulic steering from WPM. It's a nice set up and is clean to install. You may have noticed I added duel PS pumps. I always run out of gas on the pump motor.... |
