Default 35 Lightning Hatch Mirror's

Would like to know what is involved with adding mirror's to the engine hatch. Seems like vibration and heat would be an issue.

Can I purchase material and fasteners from Fountain or is this a dealer/factory item only?

Thanks

Mirrorplex: you can get it from Cadillac Plastics or Peidmont Plastic. Should be about $150 for a 4x8 sheet. A local glass shop may be able to get it for you in smaller sizes.

The vibration could be a problem if not installed well. As for heat, the Fountains are so well ventilated there is no problem.

Great input, thanks...

Are there special anchors used or can you install with stainless scews and maybe a rubber washer between the mirrorplex and hatch?

I do not know how thick the acutal deck is either, anybody pulled screws out... Are we talking 1/4 kind of stuff, I just want to avoid a knee on the deck punching through.

My 89 Fever came with the mirror installed on the hatch and it is not mounted as everybody is recommending or how I would have done it but it seems to have held up well and still looks good. Mine is installed with #8 or #10 stainless pan head screws with stainless trim type washers (like used on upholstery). The holes are slightly larger than the screws but not as large and some people recommend. Regular mirror plexi would probably require a better mounting method but I believe the mirrorplex is designed for extreme environments. I believe that the screws are 1-1.25" long and do not present any problems with the sun pad.
