Painting a Fountain Windshield

Has anyone else successfully painted their fountain windshield? I really want the race fairing but way to much $$ - So an an inexpensive way to obtain the same look is to white out the stock windscreen. Anyone have any good pics - and would you recommend this? ('99 35 Classic)

I had a older 25 ft checkmate and blacked out the windshield with vinyl.
Which I got from a buddy's sign shop.
It looked pretty cool.

Boatman572 knows the process. His brother in law did the work. I'll get the details.

First, how much is a fairing to buy one? I've always thought if I had to replace it, I'd go the fairing.

I like the paint. You still get the better wind deflection.... So, how does the paint hold up over time? I notice on mine, and many others, over time, the windscreen plexi material spider craks and just looks crappy. I'm assuming the paint eliminates this, but does it wear over time in any way? How long have your painted ones been painted?

How did you figure out what color white to get so
you have a good match?

Re: Painting a Fountain Windshield

Fairings look gay on a Fountain.

If you do it, paint your boat ( and your drives ) a nice frilly pink.
"Offshore Barbie" kinda comes to mind.

They're gay if you don't have FOUNTAIN across it.

I think the beak and the ass-down says Fountain quite clearly enough. Although now you got me thinking.

Maybe instead of "Fountain" across the fairing, how about "Ceegar-boat". . . .

Although - he does have the killer custom-fabbed blower-vent flappers. I envy him for that, and don't sleep well because of it.

But whos boat is faster?

Mine is WAYYYYYY faster.
US1 is a poser. He just does really cool stuff to his boat.

I'm not a geek.

Re: Painting a Fountain Windshield

Anybody seen US1 lately ? . . . .

Thought for sure he would have posted on this thread. His boat is wicked nice. He has way cool graphics.

However, he DOES need a fairing. Ditch the plexi, and that boat would be among the most killer 32's ( with 502's ) out there.
I just wish he would post more pics.

Isn't painting your windshield like forgetting to take down that sun deflector thing you put on the dash board to keep the car cool. Then standing up with your head out the sunroof to see where your going? :D :D :drink:

Here's what you Fountain boys need, Polished SS, custom, one of a kind, never been done before VHF antenna mount. Well, actually there are 2 in existance. The one above is aluminum. Made the 2nd one from SS. :D No coping now, I got patent pending. Have to kick your azz over to the OL forum. They'll make you their new boat biotch.

Show us yours Roxy ol' buddy! What you got, the West Marine big ol c-clamp with the big lever style? :drink:

BTW, my boat is vewy vewy fast. :drink:

No, no US1, those parts ARE smooth. My mount has to be the most hillbilly. It's the old CB radio, spring loaded antenna. The only saving grace is that it's mounted inside the gunnel.

It's just that I'm gonna copy Roux's graphics in vinyl. Mine are too
"Palm Beach in the 80's".

What are you doing, chasing a Black Trans Am? Why would you even need an ugly ass antenna? Mount it in the gunwale, or use handheld, you redneck. :D :D :D :D

You buy carpet for your house out of a van at a gas station? Just messin' with ya McGyv, I mean Jerry.

Well, just take the current Fountain speed record. Then subtract a lot. :D:D

502's step 76-mid 78's with all the wife's crap and usually pretty full of fuel. It would run faster with a divorce lawyer on board.

I have a bunch of questions. I'm doing mine also.
What did you do with the screws, grommets & washers?
Mine are black & the rubber is beat. Did you use white
silicone on the install ? What did you use for paint and
how does it match ? Do you have a paint code ? Any
help appreciated.
