Well since we are on a roll here and many have been asking about the possibility of another fun run, I would like to share some thoughts/ possibilities for our 2nd annual New Years Day Fun Run and invite comment.
Last year we we went to Burnt Store on Charlotte Harbor. The turnout was good for our first run with about 18 boats on a cool, damp day. Even tho the restaurant knew we were coming they were poorly prepared for us.
In keeping with our desire to go to new destinations I would like to suggest we consider going to Harpoon Harry's at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda. I have been there on a PRA event with over 80 boats and was very impressed with how well they handled it.
Punta Gorda is also on Charlotte Harbor about 10 miles north of Burnt Store. From the Sanibel Bridge it would be about 55 - 60 miles. Last year we ran north offshore of the barrier islands and back in the itercoastal waterway. If it is blowing, we can run the intercoastal all the way. Leaving with full tanks will mean no need to refuel for most. 89 octane should be available.
Who is in for a New Years Day Fun Run ? Also your comments please on other possible destinations and how can we make our fun runs even better?

Hey Bob,
Thanks again for a great day last Saturday.
You are the consummate host. Nice boat too!
Should have my boat up and running for the "NYDFR"
Looking forward to another awesome day out on the water.

I agree that the Cabana should be at or near the top of the list for a run in the new year, possibly late Jan or early Feb. It is a great venue with lots of good dockage. Also will be interesting for those who have never been into Naples Bay to see the magnificent waterfront mansions along the way. After lunch we could all go down to Keywaydin for awhile before heading home.
I think it calls for a meeting at the Cabana to discuss with the Naples Gang when I am back next week!! LOL
