What a bunch!! See you at Guy Harvey's.

Specialized 10-20-2007 05:14 PM

Just got back and unbeleivably we did not get wet all day. To those in the Ft Myers group I am sorry that it did not work out the way we had planned and I know at least one of you did not get the notice of postponement until too late (Sorry Jack:()
But at lunch today we hatched a new plan:cool-smiley-027: of coming up to Ft Myers beach to eat tommorrow so as to see our Ft Myers Brethren as well as not getting folks to far from home. I would suggest the Naples/ Marco gang form up at 10:30 but I would like to hear other thoughts on this. As far as The Ft Myers guys, maybe shoot for being in the vicinity of FMB somewhere around noon. Bob I have already forgotten the lunch destination you were speaking of so please jump in here.

BTW The Loose Cannon crew gets the Brass Balls award for not only driving down from Sarasota but battling the elements to join the coalition of the willing at Guy Harvey's. Joe and crew it was great meeting you and welcome to FMO

That was unbelievable. The rain started on Marco 5 minutes after I got back and tied Predator up. I don't know how we dodged the rain all day ! I will post some pics and you will see dark and threatening skies in every pic - but we did not get wet. Except for Joe and Loose Cannon who got into some rain between the Sanibel Bridge and Naples. Hope they have a safe trip back north and thanks for coming.:D
Thanks John for your organizing the run and I felt for you when a new plan evolved ever 5 minutes ! LOL:D
Bob

John. We talked of lunch tomorrow at Matanzas Inn at Ft Myers Beach. Nate called and will help organize the Naples boats. Rather than spend a lot of time tonight on planning I suggest we see what the weather is like in the morning and if it looks like a good day we chat then post the plan here by 9:30 AM. Nate suggested a later start say around 11 am. That would put us at Ft Myers Beach shortly after 12. I will call you in the morning around 9 am.

Glad you guys got together for the run!! Cape coral just had some mist. Freakin weather!!! Satelite showed doom and gloom.

let me see what I can work out with the family to get out.
Will Jay be out taking pictures. If I can get out...Looks good. Jay can jump on my boat if it works for him.
Whats the prelim list for the gathering?
I check back around 8AM for the plans and see what thr weather is forcasting.

We missed Jayboat and his picture taking ability. I called Jay at 7:30am to tell him the run was postponed. He had just gotten on I-75 at Punta Gorda on his way to Marco and aborted his trip. Sorry Jay !

Dennis. The satelite images looked worse than was actually out there.
I will call Jay and let him know of your offer. That would save him some driving.
I would think there would only be 4 or 5 boats out of Naples and possibly myself so will likely be a small group again. Some have other plans. I am only good to go if it is a good day tomorrow and right now the forecast is much the same as today. This system has not moved completely thru yet.
Lets see what the morning brings and either John or I will post the plan between 9 and 9:30 in the morning.:D
Bob

jayboat 10-20-2007 07:48 PM

Awww man... I knew that was gonna happen! Glad you guys managed to miss the rain.

Bob, did you get a new camera? some good shots there.

Thanks Dennis- I'll take you up on the offer if the weather holds.

Maritime_Eng 10-20-2007 07:58 PM

Wish I could join you guys by boat tomorrow but I have some other business to take care of. I will be down in the back waters of fort myers beach all morning so I might come by and say hi! May be ill bring over my little boat for lunch! It has a unique outboard on it that you all might want to see!

John

Bobthebuilder 10-21-2007 07:20 AM

Sun is shining thru on Marco at 8 AM this morming. If anyone is interested in going for a ride to Ft Myers Beach for lunch, post up. Looks like a better day to go boating today.

I will talk to John, Nate and rest of Naples Gang at 9 AM ish and then will post who is going. You Ft Myers / Cape Coral guys want to come out to play ?:D

Bob

Bobthebuilder 10-21-2007 07:41 AM

Just spoke to John ( Specialized). He has already talked to Nate and he is going to start shaking the Naples Gang to get them out of bed. There will be a group of boats ( don't know how may yet ) leaving Naples around 11 AM. We will go to Ft Myers Beach as mentioned. Maybe the Ft Myers / Cape Coral boats can meet at Sanibel Bridge at 11 AM and run south to meet us. We will run just a couple of miles offshore.:D
Bob

bowtye8 10-21-2007 07:50 AM

Glad to see you guys still got together. I called John at 10:25 AM when I realized I was the only one at the Sanibel Bridge on Saturday. We decided to make a run to Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda and enjoyed the day up there.

See you guys on the next one.

bowtye8 10-21-2007 04:38 PM

Jack,

I am so sorry that I was not able to contact you yesterday concerning the run. There were just so many things going back and forth. I am glad to see that you all made a good day of it anyway. Look forward to seeing you on the next one.

Very much enjoyed seeing you Jay again Dennis. Glad you were able to join us. Love that 35 outlaw. You really have me thinking now. I might just have to change my screen name to Outlawized. Can't wait to see the pics. Beleive it or not we actually got the old tug airborne today after you all turned back north. Bob and Nate thanks for running my speed today, that had to be tough with the great water conditions we had
All in all an interesting weekend, 1 big fun run ends up being two mini fun runs. See you all soon
John

Wow. Another great day on SW Florida waters.
My boat out of Marco, John ( Specialized) and Paul R. in the Apache Flyin' Falcon out of Naples and Dennis ( Bowtye8) out of Cape Coral. Also great to see OSO's Jayboat, Megabyte*3 and Wildman1.
We ran up to Ft Myers Beach to The Matanza Inn for lunch as planned. No mechanical problems, lots of sunshine. You could say it was a great day!:D
It was great to see everyone. I was able to renew an aquaintance in Paul R after not seeing him for 15 years. In the late 80's and early 90's we both kept offshore boats at the Goodland Bay Marina near Marco. We were the bad boys of Marco back then ! LOL Not sure what I am now . LOL
Anxious to see Jays pics which are always the best. I took some which I will post after I get some dinner in me.
Thanks John for organizing a great weekend, under pressure!:D

I am jealous once i saw the run was postponed I changed plans and was foolish not to wait a little while with this group I should have known...anyway I am sorry for not being there I will have to make it up on the Key West and turkey day runs. Looks like everyone had a blast.

Wildman1 10-22-2007 08:04 AM

It was great meeting everyone today. Thanks to Dennis and Jay for inviting me at the last minute. I will try and get the World famous Blondes Preferred boat down here for the winter fun runs. I showed Jay some of my pictures from the Lake Cumberland poker run so he knows what kind of play things come with the boat. Anyway thanks again Dennis for the ride I realty apppreciate it. Everyone in the FMO has made this a great group, you are made to feel like you are at home.
