I was on the carrier USS Enterprise and the Submarine Nautilus.

I could walk through an anchor chain link of the Enterprise without bending over. Best of all I had the privilage of helming the ship.

Was lucky enough to be at the helm of the carriers Forrestal and the Randolph. Unlucky enough to get stuck on the USS Redfin a WWII sub but fortunate to be on several destroyers including a German destroyer of the light cruiser class.

Sometimes they will fly you to the carrier on a VIP tour.

Wow, Dennis. That is too cool. The Forrestal sure brings back some memories for me. My dad was on it for a couple years. I remember one year at Christmas it was in port (Norfolk) and we had dinner aboard. I got to go all over the ship with my dad while my mom and sister had to wait in the dining area (no girls allowed!). One of the best days of my life.

I think that is actually what he referred to. The guy was a high school buddy who joined the Navy straight out of college
has been in nearly twenty years now and had served on the bridge of the Nimitz for quite some time. I am hoping to get him out on one of the fun runs with us at some point as he has quite an intersest in boating as you might imagine.

I have been on the Interpid in NYC, the Alabama which is moored in Mobile and the German U-boat they have in Chicago. I have always been enamored with the might of our Naval ships. I look forward to the day I can get aboard any of the Nimitz class ships. I sure would not like to be the leader of an enemy country and see on of our carrier groups show up on my door step

They need to have some of these foreign leaders board one of these floating cities of technology and view the weapons of mass destruction. Even a Muslim may start thinking about the fear of God.

Don, that is a great idea. I had asked that all boats stop to regroup at Gordon Pass (Naples), before the final leg of the run down to Marco. If any of the boats want to group themselves by brand of boat, then Jay can shoot each group. It is worth a try.
