Thanks, Frank. Yes if you will maintain the list of boats entered would be a great help. It's always nice for the membership to see who is coming and helps us with our boat and head count for the host restaurant.

Default What is new this year and a few comments

Some of the rationale that went into the schedule:

In doing up the schedule, as in the past we have tried not to conflict with other events such as the Ft Lauderdale and Miami Boat Shows, Key West boat races as well as show consideration to the Florida Powerboat Club and Poker Runs America. At this time the 2011 schedule for PRA and FPC has not yet published and we hope our schedule will not conflict with theirs.

You will notice that the first and last runs of the season are to Naples. The thought is that the water is warm enough at that time of the year ( Oct and April ) for those that want to have a swim at the beach at Keywaydin or just hang out rather than head home after lunch. FMO board member Tom Cullen is our coordinator with Naples Bay Resort and Hamilton Harbor. Thank you, Tom.

We have added Parrot Key at Ft Myers Beach to this years schedule. In speaking to them, they are anxious to host us and will give us our own section at waterside. Also the floating docks there are great and plenty of them.

Last year we went to Useppa Island for the first time and that worked out great. They had concerns about hosting us on a holiday weekend this year but with some coaxing agreed to have us on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. It is a fascinating place with lots of history and again they will offer golf cart tours of the island. A great venue for us to have.

We are going to incorporate Black Jack poker into our two fund raising events. This can be a lot of fun for those that want to participate and can also contribute to our fund raising. Details will eventually be worked out and posted. I can envision a poker hand being included with each boat entry fee and additional card hands being made available for purchase to all attendees to make for a larger pool.

For the first time the Club will have a breakfast before the start of the Nov 27th run to Useppa Island. This will be open to all FMO club members and not just those doing the run. Breakfast will be at Tarpon Point Resort in Cape Coral and is being arranged by new FMO board member Joe Ritter. More details will be forthcoming. Thank you, Joe.

Last year for the first time we brought the group down through the marked channel to Matlacha. We will do this again on the March 5th run as we will have a high tide at that time. It was a lot of fun with lots of twists and turns and we will again have guide boats lead the way. Time will not permit a stop at Bert's at Matlacha but after the run is over, some may want to return there.

The start time for the New Years Day run to Marco Island has been changed to 12 Noon. All other runs start at 11 AM.
