I am back on Marco now and Team PREDATOR is put away for the night. It was an awesome day on the waters of SW Florida. The sun was shining as we left Marco Island and the seas were flat. Zach Taylor left earlier and was sending me pictures of the fog off North Naples and Rob D'angelo from FM Beach. As we worked our way up the coast to the starting point for our run, we caught up with Zach and the fog began lifting. We never did have to come off plane. By the time all 30 boats arrived for the 11 AM start, there was no fog, seas were calm and what a ride we had. Our fly by of the pier at the south tip of Sanibel Island with Jay in position to take pictures came off perfectly. I can't wait to see them. Jay and his friend Al also took running shots as we passed by Alec's Nor Tech as we rounded Sanibel and headed offshore.
The return trip was by way of the ICW and Pine Island Sound with perfect conditions. The boats made their way into Tarpon Point Resort for our lunch. The food was great and what a venue ! Two boats threw blades off their props ( one being my Donzi driven by Raymond ) and there were very few mechanical issues today for such a large group. It was a great day for almost everyone. There were 4 people that had winning hands in the Captain's Blackjack game and the $ 1000 purse was split 4 ways. In the other game we had 3 winners so in total 7 people took home some money. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Joe Ritter and his wife who ran the games. It was fun. Also thanks to all who took part and supported the club and what we are trying to do.
Bob
Here are a few pics as teasers until Jay, Frank and others can get theirs up.
1) My nephew Nathan in the " Bob's My Uncle " boat.
2) Yacht anchored off Naples on our way up to Sanibel
3) Cigarette ( friend of Joe Cardaci's I think )
4) Franks Skater and my Donzi chasing him
5) The group after running past the Sanibel pier for Jay's photoshoot

This weekend I participated in the FMO turkey weekend run.
For me it started with my lift motor failing, with the boat half way down to the water. A little persuasion with a large hammer, and the motor became cooperative.
On the way down, on several occasions we were in thick fog, yes, fog in FL in Nov.
We went South down Charlotte Harbor, West to the Gulf, down the ICW to the Sanibel causeway, which was the official start line. After a photo shoot with Jay N., with the all the Skaters and a Motion, we began the run. Out to the Gulf, around the Southern tip of Sanibel, North up the Gulf, past Sanibel, past Captiva, and in Redfish pass. Here we waited to all of the boats to get in, and the went South down the ICW, over to Tarpon Point Resort.
For us, getting there, doing the run, and getting back to the lift, was a total of 152 miles. I burned 70.0 gallons of 93, for an average of 2.17mpg.
