Event organizer: Meghan Brousseau
Attending Captains should read this information carefully to minimize any confusion. Since we meet “on the water “ and a traditional drivers meeting is not possible, the info below is everything you will need to know to have a safe and enjoyable day on the water with the club.
The Waterside Grill at Gasparilla Marina ( 26/50/06 N; 82/15/38 W ) is another new destination for the club. This run is free of charge to all paid up club members.
If you are planning on attending, please let me know by 3 PM Thursday, March 19th so I can pass a head count along to Meghan who is co ordinating this event. This is important as the restaurant must order our food and plan for our arrival in advance. You may register by e mail ( [email protected] ) , or post up here on our event thread on OSO. I will maintain the usual Captain / boat list on OSO.
Completion of this and all FMO fun runs is on arrival at our lunch stop.
We will have our 50 / 50 draw about 2:30 ish and then depart at our leisure. Some of the group may wish to stay longer or alternatively go to a favorite waterfront restaurant for a while before heading home.
Route:
Our starting point will once again be the south side of the Sanibel Bridge. Boats should assemble around 10:45 am and we will leave by 11:00 AM sharp.
While I expect the main group will head up the ICW, any boats wanting to run offshore if conditions are good are welcome to do so. The entrance to Gasparilla Marina / Waterside Grill (26/49/35 N; 82/15/49 W) is on the ICW about 8 miles north of Boca Grande Pass.
Membership information:
All vessels participating in FMO events are required to carry insurance and have a club membership. Memberships are on a calendar year basis and if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2015, or are new and wanting to join the club, you may do so online. Go to www.ftmyersoffshore.com and click on “Membership”. You may pay for your membership online. You may also renew at any event during the lunch stop. A “Boaters Membership” starts at just $ 60.00. People tell us all the time what a great thing FMO has going on and it can only continue with your ongoing support. A current copy of your vessel insurance information should be e mailed to FMO club President Eric Belisle [email protected] who is tracking that on behalf of the club or alternatively to me at the address below and I will see that Eric gets it.
Fuel / Distance:
From the Sanibel Bridge to Gasparilla Marina and back to the start via ICW is about 75 miles, with an offshore route being an additional 6 miles. 90 octane non ethanol fuel is available at Gasparilla Marina. 93 octane is very difficult to find these days so always a good idea to leave with a full tank if you use high octane fuel.
Food:
The Waterside Grill will be serving us a varied buffet lunch at a cost of $ 25.00 including tax and gratuity payable directly to the restaurant. Kids meals will be $ 10.00. The price includes water and soda's are $ 1.00 with free refills.
Communication:
Inter boat communication to be on VHF channel 72. My cell number is 239-776-0481. Anyone dropping out after the start should let me know so we do not spend time either waiting or looking for you. Leave a voicemail if no answer.
Pictures:
Club photographer Jay Nichols (OSO Jayboat) will be aboard my Statement CC capturing as many pictures as possible during the course of the day. Please be sure to come alongside for your picture, and no need to get too close with Jay’s lens capabilities. Later, Jay will post as many pictures on our OSO event thread as he can and I will eventually send out links to where they can be found.
Tide Information:
Note the low morning tide. If attending you may want to make sure you can get your boat off the lift. Also use care to stay in the marked ICW channel during the run.
