Info/Roll call FMO October 9-11 weekend run to Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club
Event Contact: Eric Belisle 239-849-6533

We have another new weekend destination this season for the club. As always space is limited and prices have increased significantly since we reserved the resort. So if you know you can make it please book early. Before you book please read this entire announcement in order to minimize any confusion.

This event is designed to be a weekend boating event, any paid up FMO members are welcome to drive down to Marathon and join us. The FMO event fee will apply to cover our costs and you must still register with FMO. You will enjoy the benefits of a reduced room rate, Saturday evening dinner and entertainment.

If you would like to learn more about the resort please visit the website at http://www.faroblancoresort.com

Departure: We will leave for Marathon from Marco Island at 10AM on Friday October 9th. We will meet by the outer channel markers where the Marco River enters the Gulf.

Routing/Distance: The distance from Marco Island to Marathon is about 98 miles +/-. Additional details will be provided to the captains when we get closer to the event date.

Fuel: There is no opportunity to fuel the boats between Marco and the Keys so be sure your boat has the necessary range. 90 Octane fuel can be obtained at club sponsor Pelican Pier marina in the Marco River on the east side of Snook Inn. Ask Chris for the FMO discount. There are a couple marinas in Marathon to refuel.

Communications: Inter boat communication will be by VHF channel 72. As the distance traveled will be over open water you will not have cell phone coverage for part of the trip.

Friday afternoon/evening: We have no set plans for Friday after our arrival or Friday night. This will give you an opportunity to explore the resort and all the amenities available.

Saturday Fun Run: We have not finalized the plans for Saturday. Last year we did a lunch run and will probably do the same this year. Once we have a destination we will forward details to registered captains.

Saturday Evening Dinner: Weather pending we will have a nice banquet dinner on the yacht club lawn. Alternatively the dinner will be held in a Hyatt banquet room. Hyatt has put together a nice dinner including Conch Chowder, Caesar Salad, choice of filet or fresh fish and the chef’s selection of dessert.

Charity auction: The charity auctions have been a huge success thanks to everyone that attends. At this point we are not sure if we are going to have an auction at this event. If you have something you would like to donate to the club please contact Eric Belisle.

Sunday return to Marco/Fort Myers: Last year we had a few groups of boats leaving at various times on Sunday. Saturday night we will make an announcement on departure times. We strongly recommend that no boats travel alone and 2 or more boats travel together at a minimum.

Boat Slips: Boat slips will be made available to our captains at no additional charge upon the booking of your hotel room and paid captain’s fee (see below) to FMO and paid club membership for 2015. Prior to departure we will provide slip assignments. Additional fees will apply to anyone needing utilities which will be payable to the Hyatt. Please provide me with boat manufacture, length and beam.

Hotel rooms: Hyatt has provided the following guest room rates:

Single/double occupancy: $139.00
Triple Occupancy: $149.00
Quad Occupancy: $159.00

Room rates are quoted exclusive of applicable state and local taxes of 12.5%.

If you would like an extended stay the room rates are honored 3 days pre and post event dates (subject to availability). If you are planning an extended stay and need dockage please contact me in advance.

Room rates are only honored until September 25th or when our block is sold out, whichever comes first

Rooms can be booked by calling the resort at 855-546-0338 or online at
http://marathonfloridakeys.place.hya...otel/home.html
Use group code G-FMO1

FMO event fee: There is an event fee payable to FMO of $80 for each passenger on your boat. That amount covers all your weekend club activities including your dinner Saturday evening. Since FMO has to cover fixed costs we require everyone to pay the event fee. The reason we are getting discounted room and dockage rates is because we are guaranteeing minimum banquet food revenue.

Captain’s event fee: The captain’s event fee is $300 which covers the above FMO event fee and dockage for Friday and Saturday night. The dockage costs are higher which required a higher captain fee, however the room rates are significantly less than other venues.

Pricing summary: As an example of a typical boat with four people on it, the captain would pay $300 plus $240 for three additional guests (3 x 80) for a total of $540 payable to FMO. It will make it a lot easier for us if each captain can pay the crew fees for everyone in there group. That way we can coordinate dinner selections and activities directly with the captain.

Please go to our website at www.ftmyersoffshore.com select events then under Event #1 add to cart. This is the preferred method of payment for the captain and crew fees. Again it makes our job significantly easier.

Weather/Sea Conditions: To be posted 5 days prior to the event and updated daily if there is any change.

Safety: Each boat captain is required to operate his/her vessel in a safe manner and is responsible for the safety of the crew on board. Especially on this run covering open water with limited cell phone coverage. This event is restricted to two engine boats and 30 ft of length at a minimum. In addition we recommended each boat have either a Tow Boat US or Boat US membership that will cover you in the case of a mechanical failure.

Additional items of Note: Since FMO is on the hook with the Hyatt for guaranteed minimums rain or shine we are not able to refund event fees.

Contact: If you have any questions or are not sure about anything please contact Eric Belisle at 239-849-6533 or [email protected]

Bob is going. Not sure if I will bring the Statement or possibly Team PREDATOR if it's back from the north on time. In any case I will be there one way or the other and looking forward to it.

Bob

A couple more boats signed up. We have a total of 30 rooms booked and the resort is 100% sold out. We are looking into a lunch run down to Key West on Saturday. Details will go out to the captains when we get closer.

Looking forward to a great weekend!!!
