So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

Im glad I didn't get stupid and buy a bigger twin powered BB boat because , I would have to chose between the new bath, kitchen and bedroom. OR the boat. Fuel is up and insurance is right behind it.
Anyone else glad they only have one motor to feed?

Glad I have a single!! :D

Re: So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

I think its going to be a manageable difference. I'm still going to do and go whatever/whereever I want. I'll probably do more rafting, but if I still had a a single, I would probably just run around more. Besides, some of the single boats I have been looking at have BIG power and need 93+ octane so I am sure its about dead even.

Gotta admit, this Activator and a 32 Sunsation single with 800+ HP single are cats ass:

I have 282% more power, 140% the length and 215% the weight of last year.
Buying fuel is not pleasant.

I got two houses, 5 kids and an ex-wife. The current wife says I can only have one engine. And I just did 12 hours of landscaping yesterday to add to the fuel supply. The upside, she just increased my Poker Run pool.

Can't wait to get on the water!

Also glad I have a single. I hear it from the wife everytime I buy fuel as it is :(

Not me. My 32' with twins get s the same fuel ecomoy as my last 27' with a single. Maybe the blower had something to do with tat? :D Besides, we all know twins work only half as hard as a single, so it's a wash.

I'm glad I only have one to feed, but the 2 Holleys on the blower love to drink alot. Maybe it's time to take the blower off and go back to a single carb.............................................. ............NAH!!!! :D

Ya know, I kinda have to agree, I'm all for saving a buck here and there, but nothing we do is going to change the way the gas prices are. I have two boats with 500's and 502's, one is for sale, but if I dont sell it I'll use them both. I didnt buy my dually to worry about gas milage or usage, I'm not going to worry about it with my boat. Same as I wont go to Morton's or Ruths Chris and worry about the price of my steak. If its that much of an issue, park the boat or sell it...sheesh give it a rest already.

offshoredrillin 04-11-2005 08:45 PM

Re: So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

Noooo I never jump up the price for that reason, that would be dishonest. depends on the car and how much ya want done starts at 600 and goes to 1500.00 and above, motorhomes much more. Will be designing kits for boats soon, and will have generic sizes available for purchase online for gel/paint protection.

I think the Formula is such a hurry it's just trying to get up and over the truck and get to the river first!!! :D
Towed to the river yesterday (sloooowwly/ 60mph) moved the winch stand up 18 inches and have around 1,100 lbs tongue weight now. Towed 75 mph just fine on the way home. Boat ran low 70's on GPS and only had one minor problem (drives were opened up and serviced, but one lost the fluid.)

Re: So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

I still say gas is the cheapest thing I ever buy for the boat. For instance, the work I just had done on it cost me $3700.00, which would translate into 1480 gallons of gas at $2.50 a gallon. I don't see me burning that much gas this summer.

I can usually go most of the weekend on a tankful If I don't go out and run like a wannabe racer :D My boat has a sweet spot at 3500-3600 RPM = 53-54 MPH. Keep it there and I can afford food :D

Re: So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

Like I had said in a diff thread, it's all relative. While bringing my tiger back up from Boca, I had a guy kinda start an argument over gas prices. All the while holding a bottle of water in his hand that cost him 1.69 for a 20 oz bottle, I told him at that very moment that water was more expensive than gas. I know plenty of us take bottled water or beer or soda in our coolers, look at the cost of them. What about if you pull up to a restaurant ? crabs over the past years have shot up, and alcohol as well. We pay 5 dollars a shot for something that cost the restaurant pennies or a couple bucks per bottle. so I'm not going to let higher gas prices dampen my spirit. fill up the boat at 3.00 per gallon, almost 600 bucks. Go to dinner with 6 people almost 300, and the food winds up coming out the human exhaust pipe as well...:D

Hey don't even get me started on the cost of Bottled water
that would be a whole new thread to whine about :D :D :D

all and all the total cost for me is slightly higher due to having to tow a hour each way to the water. if your a heavy user of your boat 1000+ gals
a month I would say the extra 50cents is gonna show up as a 500.00

Re: So glad I only have one 502 to feed this season

Actually,
I have it both, a single hp500 and twin 502's. It will be interesting to see how the fuel consumption of the 502's vs. HP500 works out? I'm glad that I have the 502s, just put Gaffrig/KN air cleaners on it, hopefully this will help fuel economy. Actually, I now see an immediate need to upgrade my exhaust manifolds for better fuel economy! :evilb:
Burn, baby, burn!
