Re: Impellers that dont burn out

Had them in my old boat. Will never use them in anything else. Both failed in less than 10 hours.

Too Old has some impellers that will run dry for 24 hours--Globe says 15 minutes if I read data sheet correctly.

Re: Impellers that dont burn out

Have been using the blue "Rubber Works" impellers since the early eighties, when they first came to the marine market. Do not recommend using them on any outboard of any kind. They are too soft & at mid R.P.M. range & up, they do not provide the volume. Plus they do not last. They do last a bit longer in inboards & sterndrives due to their over-all lower R.P.M. use. Stick with Mercury brand. My .02. Ed

I Tried Them In My Hustler And Had Nothing But Problems. All 3 Motors Ran 20 Degrees Hotter And After 10 Hours Or Less They Just Quit Moving Water. I Pulled Them Out And They Still Looked Great. They Make Great Paperweights For My Desk Now.
I Figured Out That If You Dont Run Your Engines Dry, The Merc Units Work Pretty Good! :d :d

When would you change them? Annually like the current ones should be to be safe? Bi-annually putting faith in them?

I think I'll stick with the ones I have and stay with my routine of annual replacements. It leaves me with a good feeling, especially if I'm on a run taking me 100 miles from homebase....
