How fast is your boat? I had the nose cones on my boat and it actually went faster when I took them off. If you are not going well into the 70's you do not need them. I hate the damn things as the bondo constantly chips off and looks like crap plus as you can see the fill hole becomes a issue.

Ahh some fill over the drain hole ..But to change the oil you have to pull the lower off and flip it on its side .. I use the cardboard sleeve that comes with new spark plugs to prtect the threads as a form to build around the drain plug hole.. Just about any type of filler/ epoxy you use will eventualy start coming apart ..metal prep is key. I use evercoat 27 ..fast , light, waterproof and easy to work with.. Screw merc paint , black Krylon works fine..
