Hey ,,,

Thats what mine looks like right now. Just did the same thing last weekend. Thats a bummer dude! I'm trying to find me another outdrive as we speak.

Hey Man! I bet that is a work of art compared to mine! I'll know later today when we pull it off. We tried to find y'all at Crazy Charlies later that night, but you had already left. We did run into Tomtbone and the group from Texas we had been running with earlier in the day.

Thanks for the help with the boat Friday night! I know we didn't get it fixed, but it is the thought that counts.

Anytime, If you need any parts let me know I might be able to save you some money.
I just wish I could get past the first card stop.
This makes the second trip with problems. last year I lost a coil on my other boat and now this. Even if would have had a spare drive, by the time I would have got back and changed it out it would have been 4:00

What sucks is that I was only doing 3500 rpm's running flat in open water.
I don't even have a good story. :( l
New drive will be here Thursday :drink:
Can't sleep with my boat broke.

The intial drive damage does not happen at the point of failure but minutes or even hours before the final curtain call.

Check your oil regularly,
No power starts out of the hole, it is not a drag racer.
Do not FLY the boat, it does not have wings.
Yearly inspections help but if not yearly every other year.

Re: My Tickfaw 200 trip

Mr. Gadgets can rebuild that drive! He can fix anything in his nice new shiney shop!!

I've blown 3 drives in my boating career... one flying the boat off huge waves WAY offshore and VERY alone (Coasties came and got me)... another going 40 mph in flat water WAY up river (got a tow to a 2 bit ramp and a ride to my trailer).... and the last one trying to get on plane at LOTO with 8 people on my boat... Gordo helped me out with that one!.... 3 different scenarios all with the same results.... me pushing another boat with a tow rope!!

I guess that's why I feel ok about mine -- we were at 7000 rpms and had been most of the day. :D I lost my digital in New Orleans that night (actually the next morning about 7:00am) or else I would have pics of the "permagrin". We will try again for the Royal Purple Run. I promise not to break if you promise. :evilb:

I may call you about the parts. Thanks again.

Could be any of the above, I just bought the boat and changed the oil.
No power starts
No flying
and it only had 67 true hours. No prop damage, just part of the sport. :drink:

Racer-X6

Sorry about the bad luck. That drive looks EXACTLY like mine from a year ago.

It was a top cap failure.

But some Billet top caps on and you will have better luck.

I grenaded a drive while looking for somewhere for my friend Matt Smith (in David Woods's boat, Royal Flush) find a ramp to get his boat out while on the way to the 3:30 Chicken Drop place. I should not have been trying to keep up with Matt (Royal Flush is a 42 Lightning with big power and wet sump #6's) doing 75-80 on that 2-foot chop (I have a 35 Lightning with stock 500HP's and Bravos). This was my first Poker Run with this boat and now I'm looking at 2K for the starboard drive and hoping it will be running by Memorial Day.

It was fun till she broke, though!

Guys... Y'all aren't going to believe this sh!t. All I broke was seals and one bearing. :evilb: The bearing is what seized up... seal let the water in to cause it. Everything else is fine. We almost checked that the Wednesday before, too. New boat -- too much to check and trying to get it to the run too soon. Oh well, how many other people that broke would have spent more on the gas for the run than the repair? I am pretty happy. See you guys for Royal Purple, if not sooner.

P.S. I love the fact that the guy that stole my phone said I was still at the bar drinking with my throttleman. :drink: Next time I see that wino, I'm taking him for a boat ride. I bet he comes back a white guy. :drink: :evilb:

A 2 foot chop at 80 would not of caused it to break unless it was coming out of the water. The closest ramp at Mandervile .Been there twice picking up people that has broke drives on this run :(

Chicken Drop is a LONG run over there

There is also a ramp in Slidell right past the railroad bridge. How many people made it to the Chicken Drop? I've seen that chicken **** on the floor before so we always skip that stop. :D
