Ouch is right.
Speared the water and went from 300 to 0, in an instant.

This is a clip from the film "Across the Lake", most of the footage in the clip is from the actual run:

I recently spent a weekend with Ken Warbey, the guy who holds the water speed record. It turned into a great article, he was a fun and interesting fella, loads of stories. It will be out in Extreme Boats Mag two issues from now.

He also ran into a fuel supply problem which screwed up the attitude of which the boat was running. I just hope that this deal between Fiore/Fountain going for the V-bottom record doesn't end the same way. It is quite conceiveable that with the amount of power the motors are making that go into the record setting v-bottoms, if one of them blew up, which is very very possible,.....it would not be very pretty.

And you're right about the V bottom war. Piston engines are prone to melt down. However, Sterling motors are extremely reliable. That said, I would like to see Fountain or Fiore come out with 1700-2000hp turbocharged motors. We should see 190-200 with that power.
PSI motors should have no trouble making at least 1700hp.....and all you have to do is change pulleys (and add more fuel). PSI's just don't quit making power. You are right though, why have PSI's when you can make even more power with turbo's!!
