My biggest grip with most jet skiers, is they often feel the need to leave the ramp at warp speed, kicking wakes while you are trying to load or unload a boat. Not all, but a damn high percentage of them.

i agree with maximus.ive gotton into a fight with a jet skier who cut me off and then turned right at my boat. (he never even saw me). it happened and thank god everyone was ok. yes, there are idoits on everything with a motor but we all have done stupid things. dont take out all your anger on the jet skiers. i know sometimes they are a pain but tell me someones never yelled at you for something you were doing in your boat.

I would agree that inexperince & alcohol weither it be in a boat or jet ski is a major contributer to a good number of accidents. How many of us had jet ski's as I first form a water toy?? I bet a good portion of them are first time owners which would definatly apply to inexperince, the major problem comes in when they start to feel comfortable and start screwing around. I've owned & ridden waverunners and its very easy to lose site of were your are!!! Now most boaters aren't weaven back and forth jumping wakes so when you see a tragic accident like this its hard not to place blame on the driver of the ski. The driver of the ski should be more aware of his surroundings because obviously a boat can't manuever like a ski, and when a ski cuts him off its sometimes to late to avoid an accident. My heart goes out to the faimly and friend of the people involved with the accident, and yes I would be mad as hell at the driver of the boat espeically if he was drinking which was probably the case but lets face it I'm sure he wasn't aiming to hit the ski!! The ski got to close cut him off and he had nothing he could do. I'm sure the majority of jet ski/boat accidents result from very similar situations. That said please have a safe Holiday weekend!!!
