Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
I'm trying to shake the tree and get a few HRPA boats up there to help watch.... :drink:
Understand some others may be overnighting in Deltaville at the mouth of the river. Also i heard there's a beach or sand bar on the Rappahannock that the locals hang out at. Keep us posted and maybe some more logistics details as to what to expect; where to raftup/anchor to watch; what happens afterwards for fun; etc. etc.... |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
I know the Richmond gang will support this, I know of at least 11 boats that will be coming down. We will be putting in at Deltaville and riding up river and then staying at Urbanna Sat. night.
I know they have gone thru alot of effort to make this a nice event so show up and support them. |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
James call me or email the info on the marina in Urban so I can try to make a slip reservation.

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
The shoot is approx. 15 miles north of Tappahannock near Leedstown. We have an area where all spectator boats can raft up. Plenty of water. Our first year being legal has proved quite challenging but worth it. The "outlaw" events were great parties and this year should be no different.

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Blown Budget,
I couldn't find any rules on the web site. Do you know if the boats are classed to lenth or is it like the LOTO shoot out? Is the water generally flat? (I gotta little boat) |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Urbanna huh? What are the marina/s & #'s there that you can stay? Anything to do within walking distance of the marina/s? I've always heard of the oyster fest they have there each year...
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
JimV
The boats are only classed by type, i.e. v-bottom, cat etc. We are just starting with classes so we are trying to keep it simple this year. The water is almost always flat where the shoot is being held. It can get a little choppy on the way, but only for a short stretch. Tow on down, it'll be fun.. |

Dozier Marine has overnight slips available. www.doziermarine.com. I called and they have slips available. Not sure what is within walking/stumbling distance but the web site says a courtesy car is available. That has to be a plus. :D :D |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Sorry but the forms aren't available on the website yet. If you want a copy send me an E-mail at [email protected] and I'll send them your way. Commodore

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
which boat ramp would be the closet to the action. I have had to back up a bit this year so I will be in my 17' boston whaler.
How far above the 360 bridge in Tappahannock (sp) is the radar run?? |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Nauti-
The run is about 15 miles north of the bridge. The closest ramp is at Leedstown. That will put you a couple of miles from the action. Come on over and play on the Rappahannock. |

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Tentatively planning to launch at Garrett's Marina. Can anyone bless this location as good for a 37 footer on a triple axle trailer?
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Sydwayz,
Garrets will be a stretch for your ride. The ramp is not in good condition and the road to get there is very narrow and curvy. The tides have been running very high early in the morning and late in the evening. June Parker should work if you get down early and catch the tide high. If not Urbanna should accommodate your boat. |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Is there a rain date for this event. Looks like they may be calling for Rain Saturday???
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
I don't want an iffy place to launch. Someone please tell me somewhere I will NOT have any issues.

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
dreamboater,
Our insurance has a no cancellation clause. The event must go on that day. The weather forcast is looking good. A slight chance of isolated rain in the afternoon, but mostly sunny and in the mid 80's. It should be a great day for boating. Sydwayz, Norview marina in Deltaville, www.norviewmarina.com , will handle your boat with no problem. I was just trying to keep your road time to a minimum. The folks from RPBA are using norview as well. Hope to see both of you saturday... |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Planning Norview with the Richmond Boys.
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Great..Looking forward to seeing you and "Monsoon" saturday.
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
Wasn't planning on attending, but now I may. Is there any kind of "beach" in the spectator area? We have 3 small boys and they can't handle being stuck sitting on the boat for a few hours straight.
|
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.
No beach areas, but they can jump from boat to boat. Beware - some beads may come out!

Unfortunately my boys are big perverts (just like daddy!) and wouldn't mind that. They always seem to need to talk to mom whenever she's getting ready to take a shower  |

Norview marina is on rt.33 in Deltaville. Probably the best route is to come down 95 to Kings Dominion and take rt. 30 all the way to West Point. Turn left on rt.33 to Glenns. At the light at Glenns, make a left on 17N/33 to Saluda. Right on 33 just across from Food Lion (a boon's farm stop?) and take that to Deltaville. Norview is on the left. If I've totally lost you, call me at 804-445-5576 and I'll try to 'splain em better. Doug |
Re: Radar Shoot in Va.

Re: Radar Shoot in Va.

Had a blast at the shoot, the weather sure did cooperate in the afternoon. Managed to dunk TWO people while trying the leave the tie-up and later found someone's cheap fenders gouged the hell outta my gelcoat.
I enjoyed meeting some new faces and snapped a few photos. |
