If that sailboat was aground then he was in shallow water, I guess a jetski can play in water that a boater would not. How high could the bow of that sailboat have been? 4-5 ft. and sloping down towards water. The jetski would have had to pass within 20ft of the sailboat at significant speed to cause that injury!
It's hard to feel sorry for a guy that is that ignorant. I feel bad for his family, but not for him. I agree with the Darwinism comment!!! The Earth is getting a little crowded anyway. :rolleyes:

But on the other hand, if he was aground, how much scope could he have out anyway? I picture the anchor line closer to the boat. Just speculation of course. Natural I guess.

The learning curve is very steep at high speed.

The anchor line could have been as low as 6 inches off the water. The incline of the nose of the jet ski would have lifted the line right up over the handlebars to his neck.

I work w/ someone who is friends w/ the 1st officer on the site. The reason the passenger was not hurt, is because the anchor line was stopped by the drivers spine. :eek:

Totally not! MD law is if you are on a PWC, you have to be OFF PLANE within 300 ft of ANYTHING.

The law has its reasons, and this is one of them. I used to hate the law when I rode/raced PWC, and it does have its flaws. I was ticketed for going under a bridge at 50mph, which was only about 40 ft wide. By law I was supposed to be going 6mph or less, but at 6mph I would have been swamped or killed by bigger and faster boats. As a former rider/racer, I do respect PWC and their riders, but I do not leave room for stupidity in that equation.

Kudos to Maximus for revealing his identity.
Shame on Maximus because it could have been worse.

I must say, they PWC riders do take some of the heat off the performance boaters.
Kind of like Chum for the Patrol Boys.
If this crap keeps up, PWCs will go the route of the Three Wheelers. :evilb:

Hence one of the main reasons Polaris is out of PWC and into American made cruiser bikes.
