What's all the hoopla? One decapitated jet skier is nothing to lose your head over.

Yes they do take alot of pressure off of us being that there being watched by police alot more lately...

BUT

Unfortunatly they also cause alot of grief when they cut us off cause an accident, and we get blamed.

tradegy sure..ignorance..maybe... PWC'S have a bad rap...yes... but there are still probably a mom and dad, brothers and sisters, and wife and kids, friends and family, that are absolutely torn up about this as their life changed in an instant.

I cant imagine you all not being able to be a bit more tactful... If you cant... I guess thats your right as well.

Next time you get on a PWC because your offshore is anchored and go for a quick fun spin, think if you want your fellow OSO brothers stating that it may be a better place if you were dead

Hard to be tactful when the fool obviously was going fast enough and close enough to a moored boat to take his head off. I can not feel sorry for the individual.
The law in my part of waterworld states that a moving vessel will not go faster than 5 MPH within 200 feet of a moored boat. Also 5 MPH within 200 feet of shore.
Tragedy aside, the rider paid the ultimate price.
Sad but true!

Re: NY Jet Skier decapitated

I remember when NY was 100ft limit from shore now its 200ft and in someplaces 500ft. Skis had engines no bigger then 650s
back in the late 80s early 90s.
Most of these machines don't need the size engines they have now
I fell off my 650 stand up many times and was not really hurt, had it had 800 or 900 cc in it Im sure I would have. Most new riders don't grasp the concept that letting off the gas will leave them without steering.
